301T Range session

Post by bullethead »

I put the smallest scope that I had laying around on it which happened to be a CHEAP UTG tactical type scope. Anyway...it worked perfectly.
I cleaned the shotgun spotless, relubed , put some antiseize on the choke threads and headed to the range.
I did not have any turkey head targets but did have some 8" shoot and see type targets and some brown paper.
I did boresnake in between shots.

At 20 yds and a 13/16oz load of T8 looked like this on an 8" target circle.

40yds with a 13/16oz load of T9.5 put 153 in a 10" drawn around what looked to be the densest part. (Yeah I numbered the holes)

And 40yds again with 13/16oz of T9. It patterned a bit to the right of the 8" target and I did not count the 10". Very limited time today but I am thrilled with the initial performance.

That 20 yard target is nasty! Talk about a crushing pattern!

Yes.
I didn't shoot any T9 or T9.5 at 20. I would imagine equally as devastating.

Wads all opened perfectly

Do you cut them to make sure they open?

T9.5 smokin pattern. 20 is crazy tight but figured it would be. Good job.

So far I have not had to cut them.
I just run my finger down through the center and make sure they are all split down to the bottom evenly.
It splays the petals out a little but they go right back into position when placed into the hull.

Thanks guys.
I still kind of want to try another choke, but I really don't have to.

IndianCreek should have chokes mid August

At least I’m hoping so. Would love to take my 410 with a IndianCreek this fall to Kentucky
