Remington 870 20ga factory full

Post by kythunter »

Hey GN I bought a 870 20ga 26" barrel NIB and bought a factory full to try with TSS.
What is the constriction of factory full?
I've got an IC 555 on the way but want to try the full just to see.

Thanks in advance.

Try the full and try a Carlson .575. The longer barrels seem to like a more open choke. Good luck!

Okay thanks for the feedback.
Going with the 20 late in the season so I'll use what I have either full or IC .555. Using factory bead so hopefully POA/POI is on.
I'll fine tune gun after season is over.
Loading Hal's Big 20 NC Speed.

I have a 20ga 1187 w/ 26” barrel. I haven’t tried the Remington full but I’ve shot the tru glo strut stopper (.550) and primos tightwad (.570) and the tightwad puts up better patterns between the 2. This is with Hevi #6, Hevi #7, and LB #6. Haven’t tried any TSS yet but I’m considering getting into the handloading scene.

I too have 1187 20ga with 26" barrel and in that gun I use the full choke but also have the Remington super full and an Indian Creek 555. The full choke puts up very good numbers for a hunting pattern in my opinion

I tried the factory full and IC .555 shooting bead POI is a little low/right but huntable.
Factory full did okay didn't count numbers but decent kinda open.
The IC .555 put 270's/10 at 40 didn't count 20" but looked good.
This is Hals Big 20 NC Speed at 55 yards with IC .555 got 177/10. This is back side of paper I shot at turkey target would have smoked the gobbler.
Still fine tuning load and sights. I'd like to try a RSF but may just go with the IC and call it done.

Well at 704 am girlfriend layed one out with 1187 with factory full at around 40 yds. 1187 20ga may be on the heavy side but there is not much recoil with them.

That'll work congratulations!
The 870 weighs 6.5lbs and has a little recoil shooting 3" 1-5/8oz but nothing like the 8lb9oz 12ga.
