Rem 870 20/28 ga
Rem 870 20/28 ga
I heard that a 870 20 and 28 ga were built on the same frame and that barrels could be swapped out to change the gauge, this sounds a little fishy to me but I am not a gunsmith, just like to shoot . Does anyone on here have any info on this as I currently shoot a 20 but a 28 might work great for my small framed 7 yo daughters.

They are built on the same frame.......however, you cannot just swap a 28 gauge barrel onto a 20 gauge receiver and have a 28 gauge gun. There are other things that are specific to the 20 gauge as well. Bolt assembly is different, receiver cutout is different, forend, magazine tube diameter, etc.....all that is different.
Hope this helps.

That what I figured, never as easy as someone else makes it sound, guess back to sending my first gun (.410 single shot) to Sumtoy for a tube install. I know they can shoot it and not that expensive.

The guys on here that sell tss can fix you up with a low recoil 20ga load that shouldn't be any more than a 28.puppy wrote: ↑March 6th, 2018, 10:12 am I heard that a 870 20 and 28 ga were built on the same frame and that barrels could be swapped out to change the gauge, this sounds a little fishy to me but I am not a gunsmith, just like to shoot . Remington 870 .410 28ga and 20ga are all the same frame size.
