Wow, that's crazy that you still get 1163.. I maybe looking for a new 20!

good to hear, I have 3 MOA's loaded... 9's,8's and then a 7x9 just for fun. I'll shoot this weekend and report back about cycling/ recoil in my stoeger m3020. loads are right at 2.78-2.80" loaded.reminex wrote: ↑February 4th, 2018, 6:35 pm Shot the 20moa today. It's less recoil than a 3" longbeard for sure. Considerably more than the trusty stubby 20 co. Shot it in a little bitty 500 turkey thug that weighs very little.
Now the zip load of Hals....that runs 1260ish fps and 1 5/8 oz. It kicked. Nothing scientific like reloader has said, but I don't see 84 ft pounds of recoil. Neither is anywhere near a 3.5 longbeard out of a 500 Mossberg 12.
Once I take pics I'll post patterns on new thread
If it didn't kick as hard as a mere 3" LB, then sadly the speed isn't there in that particular set-up. I'd run it over a chrono before hunting just to be sure. Perceived recoil can be different, but physics doesn't lie.reminex wrote: ↑February 4th, 2018, 6:35 pm Shot the 20moa today. It's less recoil than a 3" longbeard for sure. My main problem is youth size stocks kill me.
I think this is very legitimate. I cut off the stock on a Beretta A303. Prior to cutting it down, it felt like the lightest kicking shotgun I'd every fired. Now, it like to nose up hard and hit my cheek when shooting. I think it will work better for the kids though.BrowningGuy88 wrote: ↑February 5th, 2018, 3:01 pm

In a full size gun they wouldn't be too bad.
I just tried it... and after many failed attempts on how to use a semi.... .... I figured it out, and ... drumroll please..... the MOA cycles! By about .001” lolreminex wrote: ↑February 5th, 2018, 2:11 pm Bowhunter, have you loaded those 20moa in the 3020 and cycled it without shooting? I'm very interested to know if the 2.80 cycle in that gun! I'd venture to say mine were longer but I didn't measure. It's possible I didn't crimp down far enough and that's why it didn't seem to recoil that bad.
8 or 10 years ago who would have ever thought you could have extreme overkill with a 20 ga.reminex wrote: ↑February 10th, 2018, 9:55 pm Pretty sweet. Have you shot the 1 5/8 yet from the 3020? I would say the moa20 took me from a 330ish up to a 370ish with 9s. However I'm assuming my 10-20 has increased a lot more. I haven't got around to counting but I will. If I could get a 370/300 pattern that would be sweet, even if it is extreme overkill
Yes actually the factory choke put low numbers with 1-5/8, it was like 250 ish. Dirty barrel. I’d guess with the Indian creek that’s enroute to me now [emoji51], I’ll hit 400+ with MOA and 350+ with BIG20XLreminex wrote:Pretty sweet. Have you shot the 1 5/8 yet from the 3020? I remember shooting a bird with a good friend opening day quite a few years back. It was with federal 7 in a 20 gauge 870. The bird slap hung up at 55 and he'd refused to let the 3.5" hevi do work when the bird spooked so I dropped him. Really thought he was 45 or 50 max. I was shooting like 160 with an ssx. I can't imagine hunting again with such inferior shells. Lol, now that's saying something! Since I started handloading I can't remember a shot past 30. Most have been 20 or in, but let me switch back to lead and I'll have 5 birds in a row stop at 40!turkeyinstrut wrote: ↑February 10th, 2018, 10:06 pm8 or 10 years ago who would have ever thought you could have extreme overkill with a 20 ga.reminex wrote: ↑February 10th, 2018, 9:55 pm Pretty sweet. I have a couple Indian creeks that I like shooting paper and missing turkeys with. I'm gonna hunt with a .584 or .575 from now on I believe unless the 20 moa proves itself to give me a much bigger swath at 20 yards than the 1 5/8. I'm going to try some duplex loads with 9.5 or maybe even 10s on top to see if it will do what I want.bowhunter2k9 wrote: ↑February 10th, 2018, 10:14 pm Yes actually the factory choke put low numbers with 1-5/8, it was like 250 ish. Don’t get me wrong, I know Indian creek is tight , but I believe with the MOA, specifically with 9’s, and 775 ish pellets, a 400/350 pattern should be possible. Which would be very even/ huntable. If it’s not, I’ll use my factory choke or a Carlson’s .575reminex wrote:I have a couple Indian creeks that I like shooting paper and missing turkeys with. It's either that or a new over/under!
