Chuck, that's a beautiful job and spectacular wood. However, I wouldn't wipe the wood down with Rem Oil if I were you. Minwax or Johnson's carnuba paste wax would be better. I use Renaissance wax on metal and wood. It's museum quality wax and not cheap, but a small tin will out last my actuarial predictions. A lot of old doubles have oil soaked stocks that weaken the head of the stock. This is caused by decades of oiling the metal and storing barrel up which causes the oil to seep into the wood. You haven't harmed your gun, but consider what I've said for future maintenance. As far as the metal surfaces on this inexpensive bargain of a gun, the barrel is satin chromed and the receiver is anodized aluminum. As is, you couldn't have better surfaces to fight corrosion.

Nope. Just some camo tape from Academy. My youngest son likes it best. Top left pic is his 1st longbeard at age 6. Bottom pics are is 1st bird (a jake) @ age 5.

thats great !! I'm getting this gun ready for my grandsons (3 of them for now) the oldest just turned 4 so he'll be ready next year, papaw will be packing it too.what shells are you using?

drilled the butt and used 3/4" wood thread stud. the forearm, I had to cut new threads on a stud to replace screw that holds the forearm on

Here's another option for sling swivel studs. Shorter one for forearm, longer for stock. Requires drilling both pieces of wood:

Further weight reduction of the Yildiz would be to remove the forend. It does nothing to strengthen the action or add support to the barrel/action connection. As Chuck did, the stud swivel could be connected directly to the insert that holds the forend on after re-threading. It would look weird, but would still do the trick. The forend probably prevents the cocking lever and trigger housing from contacting the barrel when the gun is folded, however. I may check that out, but probably will leave good enough alone and leave the forend where it is. <g> Gil

I agree Gil, they aren't going to win a beauty contest with the forearm on. I can't imagine without, but they grow on you, pretty wood helps lol

We broke 200 with 9.5's at 40 with .383 comp n choke choke out of a sxs Yildez. 207 in the 10" 100 in the 20" 307 total. 88% retention inside the total 20".
