Choke for Mossberg SA20?

Post by Southern Sportsman »

A buddy of mine just asked me to pick out a choke. He is planning to take his kid some this year. He'll be shooting 1 5/8 TSS 9s (big stubby). Where should I start? Since it will be a kid's gun, I'd prefer something a little more forgiving.

My dad shoots the factory full out of his. A fifty yard gun with 8.5s. Not a real impressive pattern on paper, but forgiving and deadly.

I just shot a 11-87 20ga yesterday with a modified choke at 40yds. It was the Big 20 XL load 1 5/8 oz. It put 167 in the 10" and 222 in the 20". I was looking for a very forgiving pattern for a new shooter than I know will be excited and probably have a little turkey fever. Hope this helps.
