Weatherby SA-459

Post by long beard »

just ordered a Weatherby SA-459. called carlson choke company and they told me not to shoot steel threw a .575 choke. I know several people on this sight shoot this setup and thats the reason i bought this gun. i know TSS is harder than steel. Just want to make sure this choke would b safe with TSS #9's. thanks for the help.

TSS isn't steel....you're good. Fire away.

Pass on Carlson. Order Trulock. 575-585. Never look back.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

The Carlsons is fine. It's what I shoot in mine and they are all hevi approved. Make sure you get the extended .575.

Try the stock choke before you buy a choke. My 459 stock choke did very well with TSS.

Here's a 1-7/16 TSS load with the factory. It performed very well.

gophert,

I looked at your post on another site with picture of your SA-459 and I saw the holographic camo optic on it. What kind is that and did it come with the camo cover around it, if not where did you get the camo cover. Also I'm thinking about getting the SA-459 and using TSS #9 in it, have you tried anymore chokes etc?

If you want numbers something around 560 +/- little. 575 to 580 give you a more open pattern

The stock .575 choke performs well:

I bought one and the factory choke is a very close second two and IC 555. I went with the IC because it was a little more even.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have no need for a 30-06, I have a shotgun
