RSF vs IC .555

Help me make a choice of a RSF lead only or a IC .555 for a 21 inch barrell 870 20 ga. Or sway me to a diff one if you can. Thanks. Josh

The IC will be smoking whatever you shoot....most consistent choke made IMO

I agree with gophert. Indian Creek are just a very good choke that works. I am very partial to them. Only downside is the price.

Im leaning toward the IC cause thats what I shoot. What choke did the gun come with ? Have you shot it yet ? The RSF will be cheaper ,and worth a try. You really won't know until you try them both. Yeah ,I know, this turkey hunting addiction ain't cheap.

Rsf didn't perform well in my youth 870. Also tried full choke. In the end bought IC .562. Should have bought it from the start.

RSF also didn't perform well in my 870 youth. I've tried several chokes and I'm still searching. I have. IC 562 on the way now to try.

In reality the IC 562 is the perfect choke for that combo. I had both the IC 555 and 562 and the 562 was a little better hunting pattern. The 555 however was easier to find and a little tighter of course.

I think I will be anti-JD and just recommend Indian Creek chokes to all, especially in 20 gauge. I know cheap chokes work most of the time, but it is hard to find anyone that doesn't like their .562 Indian Creek. They also shoot most consistently shot to shot for me.

As previously stated, RSF will be a more open hunting pattern and in my opinion is a great choke for the price to kill birds. IC .555 will deliver the hotter core. Here are some patterns with both. But as you can see, the RSF put up a monster core with a different load, and I haven't even shot it yet through the IC. Still waiting for some better weather but I can only wonder.

My lead only RSF did well in my youth 870 and my 1100. I have not tried an IC because I just stopped after the RSF. I was very pleased with it.

RSF for me as well. 270-300 type cores with a much better 20 than most of the IC 555 patterns I've seen posted. Most of the IC555 patterns I've seen are too tight for hunting IMO.

In my 870 the IC rules.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have no need for a 30-06, I have a shotgun
