What is the best .410 gun to use for tss?
I have a rossi single shot with a mod choke,it is good to 35 yards.with around 95 hits in a 10 in. circle.I bought a new Harrington and Richardson single shot Tamer today, with a 20in. barrel and full choke, shot it at 40 yards and not impressed at all, got 60 hits in the tightest 10 inch .only 38 where I was aiming, only 3 hit vital bone.I.m taking it back and trading it in or selling it back ,I heard the Topper model puts the best numbers on paper, what do you all know what works?

There is no "best" gun. Even among the same brands and models there are some that do betters than others. Gil

Mine shoots 110 in the 10" with TSS 9s. Killed a few birds with it. Nice gun to shoot.Lucky Clucker wrote:I took the gun back and ordered a Moss. 500 Bantam youth .410 with a 24 in, full choke, I really hope this guns patterns I know will have $420 invested in a darn .410 and not even loaded any more shells yet, lol. I bought the Yildiz $129 single shot at Academy last fall and started fooling around with it a couple of weeks ago. Don't care much to hunt with it out to 40 yards so I patterned it at 30 and stopped there. How does 208 in the 10 ring at 30 yards sound? Might put some sights on it to get POI in line, but it'll rough em up I figure.

The Yildiz O/U is a good one.

You might be surprised how well it patterns at 40 yards. See what it can do at 40. Your pattern at 30 is more than enough.
The pattern is very tight and you and the gun would benefit with adjustable sights or red dot. Your POI/POA as is would require unwieldy Kentucky windage in the heat of battle. I am a fan of the Yildie single shot having used it for four seasons.

Coincidently my POI on my 20 ga with TSS is 8 inches low at 40. Have been batting 1000 with Kentucky windage on it since I began maybe 20 birds ago. Even have a left handed shot in there one time. But I put a red dot on it just last week because my wife wants to use it. Will start out with a naked 410 but I think eventually it will probably get adjustables. Might be the day when grandchildren come along.GLS wrote:You might be surprised how well it patterns at 40 yards. See what it can do at 40. Your pattern at 30 is more than enough.
