Jebs 20 gauge chokes
Anybody got any information on what these chokes are doing in the 20 gauge? pattern pics with TSS would be great.
(Yes JohnDoe, I realize it is not needed with TSS but I like the way they look!)

Yeah, they're draining your wallet unnecessarily. Sorry, really I am. Nobody likes a smart-azz.

Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
I was messing around with JohnDoe and he knows that. JohnDoe has helped me out a ton with shells and choke tubes. I like to shoot Hevi-shot as my backup load and non ported, cheaper chokes don't seem to do as well with them. All I asked was information about this particular choke.Spuriosity wrote:Yeah, they're draining your wallet unnecessarily. Sorry, really I am. Nobody likes a smart-azz.
Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
No disrespect but why would you spend $110 on a choke for your 2nd shot? If I was gonna do that I would buy a $75 Indian Creek before I spent $110. I'm sure they are good chokes and probably put up great numbers, but I guess I just don't see the logic.
One of the advantages of TSS is that it shoots good out of a factory $10 choke. I just think you will not find too many on GN shooting a $110 choke. However, if you pull the trigger and get one, let us know how it does.

I hear that about 2 percent like Jeb! (Sorry I couldn't resist )
Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
I am trying to head this direction myself. I found a HS Strut .575 for the M2 on Ebay for .$9.99. Hoping for a well distributed 20" death ray and selling the Indian Creek for more TSS.gophert wrote:No disrespect but why would you spend $110 on a choke for your 2nd shot? I think the only thing expensive chokes do are stuff extra pellets in the 10" and unless you are just trying to beat someone else's patterns on paper then anything over 250 is a waste of precious metal.
Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
OK .. I'll step up to the plate as the idiot. Two years ago I ordered/bought a M2 20GA 26" barrel with the intent of making it my primary turkey gun, shooting the 2 3/4" 1 5/8 oz of TSS. The day I picked it up a couple of us shot it to check poa/poi and see how it patterned with couple different chokes. We shot an IC .555, Jebs .560 and .565 as well as the factory full. Any of the chokes with the TSS load was deadly at well beyond 40 yds. The choke tube that was the most impressive (very even pattern and dense) was the Jebs .565. My buddy had ordered a couple jebs to test with his M2 and was planning to send the .565 constriction back, so as it shot great in my gun I bought it and it has been screwed in the barrel every since. Little pricey, and I don't know that I would have ever ordered one, but since I had it in hand and there was no doubt in the performance I bought it,,,,very satisfied. It has been an absolute joy to tote and hunt with the light 20GA and has performed flawlessly.
I don't know if I saved any patterns from this combination but I'll look and if so will try to count #'s and report.

None taken at all. You can get the jebs much cheaper than $110 bucks though. Earl, thank you for the information!

Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
It really is. I have zero affiliation with Jebs but called them and asked if I could try a few different constrictions. Got a .555, .560 and a .565 on the way for my M2. Bobby Sears is the man i talked with and was as nice as he could be. Told me to try them all and send the others back when I finished patterning.Spuriosity wrote:Got to admit, that is one good looking choke tube.

Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
They seem to be gaining popularity in the 20 ga market. I've seen some great patterns with hw#7s this year with the .555 ported and .560 non ported. I was surprised when I saw them on call supply .com for 73$. As much as I hate to say it, they seem like a really good choke for over the counter ammo.

Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
Honestly I've had the worst luck just bought an sx4 20 gauge I've tried carlsons xr choke Indian creek choke and jebs 555 and the jebs still had a hard time going pass 35 yards with winchester xr 5 shot 6 shot the federal tss #7s cant push past 40 yards with mine I'm pretty disappointed and how I hear everyone else has luck out to 50 yardstubecaller10 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2016, 8:33 pm Anybody got any information on what these chokes are doing in the 20 gauge? pattern pics with TSS would be great.

Try a .585 Carlson's in that bad boy. .555 is tight in a back-bored Invector plus.jdrob825911 wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 3:52 pmHonestly I've had the worst luck just bought an sx4 20 gauge I've tried carlsons xr choke Indian creek choke and jebs 555 and the jebs still had a hard time going pass 35 yards with winchester xr 5 shot 6 shot the federal tss #7s cant push past 40 yards with mine I'm pretty disappointed and how I hear everyone else has luck out to 50 yardstubecaller10 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2016, 8:33 pm Anybody got any information on what these chokes are doing in the 20 gauge? pattern pics with TSS would be great.

Open that Jebs up a little. Here is a 35 yard pattern with TSS #9 in a compact 870 with a .570 Jebs.

Re: Jebs 20 gauge chokes
Gmed, nice! I really like that one out of the .565". It seems there's increased interest among TSS shooters for super tight cores. I tend to prefer patterns like that one in the field. It has plenty of pellets in the 10" for 60yd shots if need be and is very wide and forgiving out to 15-17" at 40yd. While others may have different experiences, I've found that I get more consistent POA/POI when my patterns are like that one compared to when I really crank things down.
