New Turkeyslayer

Post by DocHolliday »

Gentlemen:
May I present my newest Turkeyslayer. CZ Bobwhite .410 26" w/choketubes. Weighing in at a whisper over 5 lbs. I can't wait to pattern her!

Looking forward to seeing the results! Nice gun! Did they drop straight stock on the Bobwhite?

Doc, you going to dip it? How are the triggers? If it's just over 5 lbs., then it would be 2-3 ounces lighter than your 28 gauge. Gil

Hey Gil!
Haven't shot it yet. Just got it back from having it shortened and choketubes installed. Doubt I'll dip this one. May just Parkerize the barrels.
Oh and BTW, I have no intention of dropping the 28 over a couple of ounces. Just fiddling around some. Would be neat to join the .410 club! That would give me a "gauge slam" as someone called it.

Doc, the barrels are black chrome. I wonder if #00 to #0000 steel wool would knock the shine off without removing the chrome. It's a non-corroding finish as is. Gil

I have Full and Mod now and XFull and Imp Cyl on order so we'll see what it wants to shoot.

Doc, unbuffed paste wax will also dull the finish. If "scruffing" with steel wool doesn't do it, Duracoat makes a "shake and spray" two part finish that is easy to apply. The kit contains all that is necessary to apply the coating. No air compressor or spray gun is needed. I've used it on a single-shot Baikal MP-18 to my satisfaction. A single color is $34, but shipping brings it up to $50. Gil
