I just bought the same gun with a 21” bbl yesterday, anxious to get it all setup and try her out.

I have one. I bought it to hunt everything with. It has killed some turkeys too. I duck hunt with it a good bit. Mine has a 21 inch barrel. Shot the RSF choke and 3 inch HW 7 for turkey with good results. My son has killed quite a few with it. I still have a pile of HW 7 that I bought over the years.

I have had the gun 3 years. Never had a problem until the last youth day for ducks about a week ago. It failed to eject and I had to disassemble the gun later to fix it. Other than that it has been a great gun. The first year I got it, my 12 year old son killed 8 gobblers with it.

I bought one at Wal Mart a few weeks ago and had it dipped in Original Bottomland. Patterned it Monday afternoon with Apex 3” TSS #9 and Federal 3” TSS #9 thru an Indian Creek .555, Jebs .560 and Jebs .565. The Indian Creek out patterned both Jebs chokes. On my 7th shot the shell did not eject. Couldn’t get the bolt open or the barrel off. A guy on Facebook told me he had the same thing happen with his Compact and told me how he fixed his. The back portion of the Action Bar Assembly that holds the bolt handle in broke off and allowed the Locking Block Assembly to rise up out of the top of the bolt and lodge in the indention on the sleeve of the barrel inside the receiver. Had to insert a small pick above the bolt to pry the Locking Block Assembly down out of that indention to free the bolt. I was then able to remove the barrel and the spent hull slid right out and was in perfect shape. Called Remington the next morning and explained what had happened. They are shipping me a complete Action Bar Assembly and a new Bolt Handle as I broke it off trying to open the bolt. Great customer service. But Remington’s current metal quality leaves a lot to be desired.

I found it new. My area Walmart’s dont sell guns, and I was traveling with work and stopped by a Walmart in Dothan, AL and found it. $449 I couldn’t pass it up, only bad part was they only had one!

What did the gun run at Walmart? And was it black or a different camo pattern that you wanted. Also is the Walmart gun a youth stock with short barrel

Yep! There was a sign advertising the 11-87 20ga black synthetic compact with 26”bbl for $449, however the display gun was a 21”bbl, I asked about it and told the guy I wanted that one, and he said it was his only one so that price was the same.

Very few Wal Marts had them. I had to drive 60 miles to buy this one.

I have two of them; one is 8 years old the other other is 5 years old. Only problem I had with them was not reliably cycling some loads (usually heavy turkey loads or slugs). Removed the barrel seal activator and have had no problems with either one.

I received my Action Bar Assembly from Remington today and installed it on my 1187 Compact. But the action will not open smoothly. When I remove the trigger assembly it opens somewhat smoother but when I re-install the trigger assembly it wants to bind when I open the bolt. Any suggestions??

Update-----Disassembled the 1187 Compact and sprayed all internal parts with Break Free CLP. Let it soak in a while and wiped everything down. Re-assembled the gun and the action was much smoother when I cycled the bolt. Ran 15 shells thru it and they cycled flawlessly. This Break Free CLP is some bad stuff.
