Mag Blend for 10

Post by YellaJacket »

For the 10 ga shooters looking to upgrade from lead but not break the bank here is an alternative soon available in stores. The Environmetal mag blend in 2-3/8 oz at 1200 fps. I havent fired any yet because Ive been busy at home but wont be long.

Not to highjack your thread, but I shot some MagBlends in my 12 and they performed well. Not the numbers of the Nitros, but not to bad at all. I smoked a turk this spring with one, I'm thinking 30 or so yards. No problem what so ever. Give em a try if you can!

That will get the job done for sure. U only need one pellet to kill a bird, the 300 other pellets are to make you feel sure about yourself. Lol
I won't shoot nitros, I shoot hevishot. I have never missed a bird or failed to kill one with them, and I have a 18 inch barrel supermag.

I for one am looking forward to seeing how they shoot for you. I have a Sp10 and bought a rifled sighted barrel for it to shoot turkeys with.

Hoping they are as good as the 12 magblends perform for me.

Yeah me too. Just good to see something new. I'm having some electrical work done at the house. If the folks dont show up this evening I may go to fire off a few...but since I wanna shoot I'm sure they'll be there early.

Well went to the range this morning mainly for the benefit of having a roof for the rain. Sure enough just as I went out to put up target it started..no matter. I was dissapointed when I realized two of my chokes werent in my shooting bag..gotta track them down. The PG .690 was in my gun. This pattern is at 40 in a 10" circle. I was pleased to see a lot of #6 and #5 holes when counting with very few smaller holes. If this were a straight 7 I would have been dissapointed with the count from a 10 ga anyway. I like this shell esp for the money. Gotta see how they cycle but plenty of "boom" on this one. I have had better performance with EM shells in other chokes with the 12. I'd love to try the 10 ga IC with the Mag blend. Those combos are deadly in the 12. Now this was point and shoot with no sighting but it gives an idea.

That is really exciting stuff, there. I can't wait to see what you come up with with the rest of the choke combos. This is going to be interesting. I can't wait. Thanks for the info, Jim.. :violent3: Mike

Some folks like a 100 in a 10" at 40. I prefer at least a buck fifty. If a pattern has 200 its a killer all day long. Anything over that is dessert. I love more for the money myself but you get to the point of counting yourself to death. I do like a tighter pattern. I also feel that a 30" circle is useless for turkeys,I use that for goose loads..We shoot for the turkeys head right? Im not worried about covering his feet too. Gimme a 16" pattern at 40 and you've got movement covered In my opinion. Another reason I like trigger work done. A stiff trigger can affect reaction time and POI while the turkey may bob his head or natural walking movement. The best part about the htl shot is denser patterns, better insurance for kills, not to make long range killers. off the soapbox :D Shootin in just a couple hours!

Not that I will totally write off Nitros but for the money.... Thems fine turkey killers, might not win a card shoot but I will eat.

They need to get it out on the market..The patterns are good, with a nice mix of shot size..

Awesome pellet, Ive got a good setup in a 12 for that. Working on getting the right choke made for a 10. Long parralel section, no ports and believe it or not that shell responds well to choking down a bit. I am aiming for a .685 for the 10. I use a .650 for my 12. I wish Fed would remake that cup.
