Federal TSS 9's
Federal TSS 9's
A friend has acquired several boxes of Federal TSS 9's and doesn't have a clue on chokes, and neither do I since I now I "roll my own" and only know what my guns like w/ TSS handloads. I see where the Trulock chokes for the Federal TSS, 9's are .640 and .650 for 7's. I think he will be shooting a 3", 870 or 3", Ithaca 37, and has a variety of choke tubes from an GT .650 - PG .665 and IC tubes. He usually hunts w/ EM 3" 6's, and wanted to know if the Fed TSS loads should pattern similarly at 40 yards. Any info will be appreciated and may save him some money, aggravation, and patterning time.
Re: Federal TSS 9's
Don’t think he can go wrong with any of those chokes out of a 12 ga 1 3/4 oz with #9 TSS. Would probably opt for the most open he has to start with.
My buddy shot #9 fed Tss 1 3/4oz through his Carlson longbeard .665 invector plus Browning o/u it shot avg 350/250. @ 40yds
Longbeard 3” 6’s shot 250 in 10” same gun same day but the 20” was sparse not worth counting.

Re: Federal TSS 9's
I thought a IC .660 out of a barrel which isn't over-bored would give a good core and even 20". Anyone tried or seen the results w/ the Trulock chokes.
Re: Federal TSS 9's
A lot of people seem to lean more around the .670 range when it comes to the 9's. Tends to give a more even pattern and a little more forgiving on close shots. They still put 100's of those bb's on paper at 50 yards.
