Choke recommendations

Post by decoykrvr »

I just scored a deal on a couple of cases of Federal Heavyweight, 12 gauge, 3 1/2 ", 1 7/8 oz, 7's,6's and 5's, 1300 fps, which I plan on using for hunting geese and cranes. I normally use an Extended Patternmaster w/ my H&K, SBE when shooting the old Remington green hevi-shot shells, but know that I need to utilize a non-ported tube to deal w/ the FCW in the Heavyweights. Any suggestions and real world experience on suitable chokes would be greatly appreciated.

I've always had good luck shooting this with Trulock chokes.

I have used the FedHW7’s in my 20ga using ported IndianCreek chokes. I know several who also have with 12ga. I don’t think I would be scared a bit to try a IC waterfowl choke and the HW

A patternmaster choke is tough as nails. I wouldn’t be sacred to try using that either
Don't start none, won't be none!
