Choke suggestions for SBEII/TSS?

Post by Southern Sportsman »

Good friend of mine just got one and asked me for suggestions on choke. He'll be shooting my 2 oz TSS loads. He bought it at a pawn shop and it only has an imp/mod choke right now, so he's going to have to buy something. I told him it would probably be a Carlson or something simple, but if anyone has insight on constriction preference for this gun, I would appreciate it. 26" bbl if it matters to you.

Factory full works very well, but if he wants to choke it a little more, a Carlsons .675 will do well.

X2. If he wants to spend little more, Indian creek 665 has been good performer in my brothers Super Vinci and my dads SBE2 with 2.25 oz TSS.!

I use an IC .665. I wouldn't go any tighter.

^^What these guys said... .675 Carlson's good all around , factory full most forgiving, or .665 Indian Creek for the WOW factor.

I shot my SBE2 with a 2 oz load of 8.5's and got less than 200 with a rhino .660 . Of course, the gun shot 8 inches high. See where Sumtoy sells his choke for that gun at a .650. What is up with that? I wanted to cry, magblends beat TSS that day.

I am in the process of trying to figure this out myself.

So far I have shot the Rhino .660, Jelly Head .668, Carlson .675 and Jebs .650.

the .660 and the .650 have shot the best but I have not shot over 300 with anything.....but I am not shooting straight 9's either.

the .660 shot 299 with 8/9's 2 oz load.

The .675 has not been worth counting.

I am still actively working on this we will see how it turns out.

Not necessarily. Tighter is usually bad for TSS loads. The only 2 chokes I have used that are ported and work best for with TSS are the ICs and a CompnChoke I had in a 12 I sold last month and the
CnC was 675ED.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

675 Carlson's in a SBE with a 28" barrel put 347 in the 10. Really needs a extended XFull .685. 2oz load of 9s. Image

Shoot the factory full before buying anything else. You will be impressed.

Well, I borrowed an Indian Creek .665 from K9Doc and shot the same 2 oz TSS 8.5 load through my gun mentioned above. Shot 303 in the 10 this time. I am well pleased now. :D
