T9.5 smokin pattern. 20 is crazy tight but figured it would be. Good job.

Re: Stevens 301 .410

With the 301 .410 you get a lot of gun for $175 =/-.
Especially if you factor in the cost of taking a plain Jane .410 and have a gunsmith install swivel studs, drill and tap receiver with rail, and have barrel threaded with screw-in full choke.

Re: Hevi-shot is in the bonafide TSS game

Hevi #7 was one of the last factory loads I shot before hand loading TSS. Before that it was copper plated loads, Win Extended, then hevi and long beards. All 12ga 3". I was hunting a woods gobbler one morning and he gave me a 53 yard shot. I didn't realize he was "that far" anyway he...

Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please

The Yildiz O/U marketed by Academy is pretty nice for the price. I got the compacts and bought it when I had $100 off coupon. Effectively paid $360 out the door. Got a Sumtoy rib mount for my Vortex Venom. The compact model has a 24" barrel and weighs about 5.2 pounds. I changed out the recoil...

Always good to see poults, this year especially considering the cold/wet spring.
Saw a lone Kentucky hen yesterday no poults. Hopefully the hatch will be good.

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

Guys the bottom line is if it's legal to kill hens bearded or not that's up to the individual hunter. Nobody should fault him for shooting any legal game. I personally believe all states should not allow hen harvest spring or fall. Why because obviously that's one less hen laying a nest. It has to h...

Re: Which 28ga

Okay looked at some 28's the other day at local gun shop. First was a CZ 628 28ga pump. This gun surprised me, well balanced and fairly light. Ported barrel with ivory front bead. Seemed to be well made...solid. Will consider this one. Next was the Tristar G2 semiauto 28ga. Well balanced and light. ...

Re: First 410 kill NM 78 strong!

The .410 project was fun. I'd been wanting a .410 from when I first started loading way back in 2015 lol. I'd see Hal and others post there .410 kills and think it would be too cool to kill a big ol' gobbler with a little .410 hand load. So when the 301 came out it seemed like a good option and so f...

Okay with a budget of around $800 would you buy a Franchi AL48, CZ Bobwhite, or CZ Woodcock?
This will be my first 28ga. Read several reviews and all of the these are good options.

I haven't been able to find one of them
I’m buying a brand new one for $459 out the door from my local dealer
Fixed choke or multi choke? I've seen both and I think the express has fixed factory full and wingmaster has multi choke.

Re: .410 recommendation

Good question. This was my first year using a .410 and I went with the 301 with hand loads. The gun is simple and it works. I like the break open action. If I were to buy another 410 it would probably be an O/U or SXS maybe a pump. Just my opinion but 410 shells seem to be a little more fragile than...
