Re: Anybody gonna be killin until Turkey season

Since the end of goose season I have been ice fishing. I live on a 75 acre private lake and the crappies are 10-12 inches and the gills are 7-9. My buddies and I have harvested approx 300 so far. That lake is chuck full and needs some thinning out before these crappies die. 9 inch Bluegills,... Dam...

Re: So, how would you carry it all without a vest

It will be tough to carry all that without one. I use a vest mainly for the seat cushion. I don't think my vest with my stuff slows me down a bit. But everything I carry is essential at some point in a hunt. The last thing I want when going toe to toe with Tom is needing something I left behind to s...

Marketing at its best. Just like fishing lures. They are made to catch customers who are looking for the new magic bullet.

1st edition 1st ever trumpet

Just past the new year I was givin a very special gift. One of the landowners I hunt is in to woodworking but never anything hunting. He surprised me with my first and his first ever game call. This one happens to be a trumpet. I play it everyday. There is one stipulation he has. I kill a turkey wit...

Re: Decoys ? Why Not ?

From my observations of longtime turkey hunters versus relatively newcomers, the LT's started out without decoys and most prefer not to be encumbered by them running and gunning. Many NC's started with decoys and had success and stick with them. An old friend has no choice but to use decoys as his ...

Re: Hello from Manitoba

Got permission to hunt an oat field. We set up this afternoon and the four of us killed 29 mallards 6 lesser Canada geese and one blue goose. My best hunting partners gma is on her death bed, so we are going home a little early. Over all it was a very good trip. I have yet to pick up the Canadian as...

Tonight we got 12 blue geese in the field that had 10000 yesterday. Does not sound like much but we had a great time. Just ate two bowls of duck chili and am going to scout in the morning. I will post pics when I get back into the states, have no access to upload memory card. If I remember I will ta...

Re: ? For you fall turkey hunters...

In Wisconsin you can harvest as many birds as tags that are available. Spring and fall. Some zones sell out and some have thousands left over at the end of the season. For $15 a bird I think it a great deal and a wonderful lengthy opportunity to enjoy the woods. Fall is either sex. Spring is bearded...
