Re: Strutter or Looker ?
Do you guys have much luck getting the looker after shooting the strutter??? I’ve noticed you seem to have about a 3 to 5 day window where the second Gobbler is really vulnerable, no matter which one you shoot. This is especially true if you kill one of two gobblers who were by themselves. If I hav...

Re: Season Recap
P.M. sent ! Although Florida was fun I have to admit that I would rather hunt out west over Florida (dodging alligators and snakes in waist high swamps :o ) anytime and since I have 2 Golden Florida birds now I probably will never go back there unless Montana closes me out ( kinda like this year lol...

Congrats  Man I really miss sitting on a pine ridge and hearing that distinctive Merriam's gobble at first light ! Good thing about getting all those tail feathers out like that it makes cleaning the fat of them for a tail mount easier :blackeye: I have found that getting to them while stil...

Re: NY Eagles
I was out last week sitting in the woods when I heard what sounded like the wings of a large bird flapping above me . I looked up through the treetops in time to see two bald eages come together talons out in a sky fight. The diving and swooping at each other went on for about 5 minutes until one tu...

Re: Electronic turkey calling
A concerned friend relayed to me what he feared was a trend with some younger beginning turkey hunters. One of them showed how he called turkeys with his smart phone which had an array of various calls, including gobbling. The young man indicated others he knew did the same. I suppose thermal imagi...

Re: Dr. Michael Chamberlain - MeatEater podcast
I know the guy is an expert and all but I wondered about the dominant gobbler thing when I read it.I found it very interesting and started me thinking not always a good thing. I see several different groups of birds in areas I hunt. One or two toms with several hens. They roost together and hang aro...

Re: How many?
I've killed three without spurs.! One of the best hunts I ever had was with a wily old gobbler I battled with making several moves and finally got the right set up and killed him ! As I walked up to him I thought this old guy has to have long sharp spurs boy was disappointed when I rolled him over a...

I am always envious of guys that can get it on film. I carry a small panasonic cam with me all the time but as I get working a bird and moving I always seem to forget to turn it on until after the bird is already flopping.

Catch22 Kind of Turkey Season !
I really enjoy watching Shane, Dave and the guys on the hunting public in the spring ! This year with limited ability to get out myself even more so. I am wondering how long they will be able to keep up the hunting videos with all the EO's in the different states. On one hand I selfishly hope can ke...

Not looking great. Most of the places I go are in the U.S.so thats out. One of my best spots at home is on an island but you have to fly or take the ferry to get there. I can't imagine they will let you cross to hunt lol Might have to try and talk my buddy to come and take me over on his boat as we ...

Re: Dr. Michael Chamberlain - MeatEater podcast
Just saw this yesterday and I agree a very good listen to a biologist that actually I can relate to his info. I found the turkey leks info and killing of the boss gobbler and screwing up the mating for the season very interesting. Also the part about most hunters using the same strategy all season b...

I can hardly believe there would be weather like that this year. I figured that it would be sunny, dry and warm since I won't be there this opener in Mt lol
I guess I was wrong the crappy weather wasn't just for me its normal
