Re: Pistol grip or not?
No pistol grips for me.
Re: Dot size
I shoot and like an FF2 and an FF3. They have the small dot, 3 MOA if memory serves. They make a larger dot that I think is 8 MOA. Have never shot one of those, but "think" I prefer the smaller dot.

Not a fan of Tom Cruise, but the original was my favorite movie of all time, and the new one is way better than the original!

Re: Dang Egg Eatin' Critters !!
Just came in from setting my trap out beside the bird feeder. Egg stealer has been eating under the feeder most nights. Have a hen hanging around, hoping she is going to nest, and want to give her all the help I can.

Re: 20 ga 1100 TSS
Pure speculation here, but what does the payload have to do with it? Wouldn't it be related to the pressures that the gun could handle? I think I'd rather shoot a 1-5/8oz load at 10k psi out of it than a 1-3/8oz at 12k Pressure is very important and I don't want to shoot something over pressure. Ju...

Re: 20 ga 1100 TSS
If it were me loading 1.25oz, I would consider trying 9.5 size shot to increase my pellet count. With the lighter load you may gaining enough velocity to offset the step down in shot size. Good idea about the 9.5s. The first 12 ga load I developed was a 1.25 oz load of 9s. Killed a turkey with it a...

Re: 20 ga 1100 TSS
Thanks for the links. I had read both of those before I posted the question about the 1100 shot charge weight after doing a search. Hopefully some more guys with 1100s will chime in with their experiences.

20 ga 1100 TSS
Looking for advice. I have extensive experience loading TSS for the 12, but none with the 20. I have a buddy that wants me to load some TSS for his 2.75" 20 ga 1100. For those that have experience with the gun, what payload weight should I be looking at? I would like to load a 2.75" 1 5/8 ...
Re: Speadbead
Put one on a 3" 12 ga 11-87. It failed after only a few shots and would not hold zero. Burris CS was great though; they offered to send me another or a 336 mount for drill and tap if I preferred, which I did.

Re: Shotgun that wont break your face
Absolutely agree with the above advice about getting a 20 ga and using TSS. Load your own TSS for about half that $10/shell price. If you really want low recoil, by all means get a gas powered autoloader. The 20 gauge with 1&5/8 oz TSS 9s will pattern and penetrate better than any 3.5" lead...

Re: Range Estimation
I agree with the rangefinder statements. My Sig stays on my belt during turkey season. It is also the first thing I do when I sit down. I range some landmarks so that I know when the gobbler passes the mark, he is dead.

" I wish I could find a roll of 4'x4' paper but 3'x3' has worked well enough."
I order 48" Kraft paper from ULINE. They make it in several different weights. I like it much better than 36" construction paper for patterning.

Re: Stevens 555
I recently purchased the Stevens 555 in 20 gauge for turkey hunting. I ordered an IC .555 choke tube for the upper. The O.D. of the choke is approximately .817" It takes up more than half the space. What can I fit into the lower barrel? Does anyone run an IC (not improved cylinder either) chok...

Re: Stevens 555 O/U Compact 20 gauge set ups
I'd just use a flush mod in the other barrel so you will have a better option for closer birds, as your IC .555 is likely to be very tight.

Re: Done with TSS
I swore by lead for a long time, so I understand the dead is dead argument. But......... no benefit in a 12? I can shoot 1 5/8 oz TSS 2 3/4" loads from my 12 with minimal recoil and still shoot a better pattern than I ever did with a 3" or 31/2" lead turkey load, and with a fraction ...

My 12 ga will do it to 40 with a lt mod with a 1.25 oz load, so I am going to guess 30+.

Re: Air Rifle
Have never shot a Hatsan. Shot a Gamo once. It had the worst trigger I have ever pulled. Had no desire to own one after that. I have a Beeman R7. Super accurate. Great trigger. Have killed lots of black birds and a fair number of squirrels with it. Head shots only for the squirrels. It doesn't have ...
