Re: Georgia season changes

First year Alabama used the reporting system it wasn’t mandatory. The second year I think it was but many older hunters felt like it was to much government overreach and/or to time consuming. Seems to me many of the covid hunters take to new rules much better than older people. Especially if they ar...

Re: Georgia season changes

I am glad to see others that recognize there is a problem and are interested in fixing it. I have hunted turkeys for over 40 years and I am very passionate about it. I want to harvest some but i don’t want to increase the population by more than I harvest. One thing I have noticed is that most peopl...

Re: Georgia season changes

Georgia uses the honor system to require the reporting of kills. Gil, I've had to report every gobbler killed in GA for several years now. The system is similar to the one AL uses, where the hunter records the kill on the hunting license and then reports it on the state website and gets a harvest n...

Does shooting animals reduce animal numbers? Does shooting a lot of animals reduce the population by a lot ? Does shooting all the animals reduce the numbers to 0? Re: Georgia season changes

How do you explain extremely high turkey numbers in some cities that don’t allow turkey hunting? How can you manage a turkey population with only 1000 acres of less. Turkeys can and will often walk through that in a day or less. I have a farm where I routinely only would see 2 bucks a year. I let ro...

I have one pair that I have used for over 35 years. The palms have long since been worn off. The thumbs are gone and both index fingers. Only thing left is the wrist part and a few fingers. I just wear them out of luck now. Everyone who sees them offers to buy me a new pair or thinks I am crazy. I a...

Re: Georgia season changes

I am very interested to hear all the information. In my area of Alabama the turkey population has been in steady decline for years. Finally folks have decided there may be a problem. They are changing the season a little, changing decoy use and reducing the harvest by 1. It is much to little and muc...

I seem to find duds in all shotguns. Had a berretta that wouldn’t bolt a shell in it. Gun shop said they would exchange it for another when they got one in. Made me so mad I exchanged for m1 super 90 that shot everything over 1 foot low. Bought mint lc smith. Right barrel perfect but left barrel sho...

Re: 28ga. double or auto

My experience has been that it is challenging to find many guns that shoot to the poi. Lot easier to fix the issue when the gun just has one barrel. If you are looking for gun that shoots where you aim it stick with auto loader and be prepared to add a sight of some sort

I have 2 Quaker boy grand ol masters that sound best to me and the turkeys. They are the old ones not the new junk callers they make now. To me the box caller is the most effective caller every made. Also I can’t understand why folks carry so many different calls with them. When you reach a certain ...

I have been hunting for 45+ Years. You have to where the turkeys are to kill them. I am fixing to say something controversial and there will be a lot that disagree but going to say it anyway. Turkeys are like roosters they like to make noise in the morning if you don’t hear they are likely not there...

Those have been out of stock for almost a year. If they say they are getting more please let us know. Gunsmith did say he could put stud into the forearm. I kinda thought that might wear the latch out prematurely. I guess it would work though.
