Re: Viper g2 feeding issue

That doesn’t give me warm and fuzzy feelings. I looked at a new browning a5 sweet 16 today as a replacement. About 1700 and the vent rib wasn’t even straight on it. It was a brand new gun.

Re: Viper g2 feeding issue

Called this morning and talked with the gunsmith that worked on the gun. He thinks it is the action spring and is sending a new one to try. Still frustrated but the guy was polite and assures me that he will get the gun functioning correctly. If this doesn’t work he is offering to pay shipping for g...

Re: Viper g2 feeding issue

Update on the tristar. Got it back today. Loaded it up and exact same problem. Called them and they said it functioned fine with high velocity steel shots and recommended I shoot those. Problem is I want it to function with lead shot as well. They said I could call back tomorrow and speak with the g...

Re: Viper g2 feeding issue

Called tristar this morning and they said they would fix the gun in 2-3 weeks. Going to ship it off today and see what happens. Asked if they had any tips or things I could try? Nope the man said. Off she goes.

Looks a little above my skill level. Going to call tristar folks Monday and hope they are good to deal with. Will let y’all know how they take care of it.

Re: Viper g2 feeding issue

It ejects the fired shell but the one in the magazine doesn’t feed. It does let the one in magazine come out but leaves it under the bolt. Kinda like if you didn’t correctly put the shell all the way into the magazine with your thumb. If that makes sense. I have taken it completely apart and cleaned...

Viper g2 feeding issue

Son has been saving up his money and was able to buy his first shotgun. Viper g2 16. Been shooting heavy loads through it and it will eject but fails to feed the next round into the barrel. Anyone else had this problem? Little fellow says he spent his life savings on the gun. Guess he is about right...

Re: Waterproof boots?

I bought a pair of danner snake proof boots and have stood in water for up to 30 minutes without a leak at all. Don’t know if I just got lucky but they have been really good. Did have a prickly pear pierce the bottom though. Still no leaks.

Re: March hunting in next few years

If everyone seems to agree, what is the best place to start in making changes? NWTF? State Fish & Game? The nwtf has become a money making venture. They have gotten way to cosy with the states. It wouldn’t surprise me if the states have to clear things with the nwtf before they do something or ...

Re: March hunting in next few years

My experience is similar. Yes the good ol days are gone. This is going to go down as the worst example of over harvest since they were almost hunted to extinction the first time.

Re: March hunting in next few years

They are being over harvested. I knew when I saw the researchers put up those stupid gobbling listening devices there would be a group of people who suspect there is a new super silent turkey out there. Put radio collars on the gobblers and put leg bands on the gobblers it won’t take long to discove...

I watched that am happy the guy is doing well. I wonder who loaded that cartridge that almost killed him and I wonder where he bought it? I have always been extra cautious about my ammunition for just that reason.

Re: I quit

Outdoor life has a article on some research on how far turkey travel. It is partially sponsored by nwtf but still states that banded turkeys caught by net cannon traveled great distances. Most gobblers were harvested with 5 miles of capture sight but some traveled much longer distances.

Re: I quit

If you do a search on radio collared turkeys or gps collard turkeys it is pretty interesting how far some travel. You got to get away from nwtf information though and look at actual university studies not payed for by nwtf. The nwtf studied turkeys never travel as far for some magical reason.

Re: I quit

Well I can tell you that nothing attracts turkeys like chufa. Sandy and decent drained will grow chufa the best  If it's waterlogged, may be best to save your effort!! ;) I have found this to be true. Also very hard for them to dig in heavy clay soils. I have one field next to a creek that...

Re: I quit

My two family pieces are about 300 acres each. They hold turkeys now. You should be able to hold turkeys on 500 acres if it is good habitat. Most of my birds seem to "claim" an area of 20-50 acres. Sometimes multiple birds use that "area", sometimes just one, but there area nume...

I have had 2 or 3. They were all my fault trying to close the bolt to quietly and not getting it latched all the way.

Tract has large lake with 2 creeks. It consists of about a third mature hardwoods 30-50 year old , pine stands of different ages with some recent cutover and about 60 acres of durana clover. I have a base of brown top millet that comes up in the summer. For winter I over seed with wheat. I routinely...

Re: I quit

Something I asked myself is am I growing more than I am killing? My answer was no so I decided to quit shooting them. I have hunted them for 40+ years but now I want to help them as much as I can and I am not waiting on the game and fish folks.
