Re: Single shot 12 gauge
In my crate, I carry a thermos, lunch, a small foldable stool for sitting on while killing time, and a large construction grade plastic bag that I'll roll out and take naps on. I like to hunt at trail's end which is 3.5 miles from the gate. I have also carried a small folding limb saw to keep the tr...

Re: Single shot 12 gauge
I don't think there is a single-shot 12 gauge lighter than the Yildiz TK12. Mine weighs 4.25 lbs. I took advantage of the solid rib to mount a Skinner Peep and Marble post, but there is no reason a red dot can't be mounted. Gil I put together a new bike last year and used it on my deer hunt. Taking...

Re: Anyone use a CPAP?
NCT--That was one arrogant S.O.B. who told you that you'd be dead before 50. What a jerk. My experience with CPAP was that the private company that supplied the unit knew more about patient needs and comfort than Dr. His Majesty whose sole role was to prescribe the use. Anyone having trouble with pr...

Re: Air Fried Salmon Patties
Those cakes look wonderful. Salmon croquettes are a family favorite. A couple of years ago I found online a southern recipe that had a variation of the usual method which uses either cracker or bread crumbs as a fill. Self-rising flour is used instead of bread or saltine cracker crumbs. Another diff...

Re: IMR 4227
I used it 40 years ago in a Roster published 10 ga. load. 2 1/8 oz. of shot. It was published by BP for one year then never again. It wasn't reliable in cold weather. Worked fine for me on spring turkeys. A buddy reported that it "blooped" in freezing weather which was consistent with the ...

Re: Ithaca 37 16ga featherweight question
Be careful threading the earlier models, those that were made prior to the 87 series. The barrels are thinner and I've heard of problems due to the thinness. Some of the ones with Polychoke left the Ithaca NY factory with them installed. I have M37s in all gauges. I plan on shooting my 28 ga. today ...

Re: Trijicon rifle sights
A season hunting with rifle sights last year reminded me why I went to red dot systems over 25 years ago. Beads, vent ribs, plain barrels kill turkeys for sure but nothing beats red dots for rapid and consistent target acquisition especially for tightly choked loads. The Burris Fast Fire system is a...

Re: Grilled Sockeye Salmon.
That sure looks great. Nothing beats wild salmon for taste. I don't have sockeye, but have silver (coho). Rather than thaw out a whole filet, I use a Fiskars folding limb saw to cut off a dinner sized portion. I season skinless side with Tony Chachere's Cajun spice and then coat the skinless side wi...

Re: Thinking about adding a red dot
I agree with what others have said. A little battery change at the beginning of the season provided some invaluable piece of mind. On of the pros I didnt see mentioned is that if you put that dot on the target regardless of where it is in the housing your good to go. Its not like a bead or rifle st...
