Re: Any waterfowlers in here?
Anybody ever figured out a good way to cook geese? I love ducks but geese are kind of another story

It amazes me how well they can pinpoint sounds too, especially in hilly terrain.

The Super Bantam 20 is in both photos. I beginning to think it's time to start culling. :turkeywave: http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/turkey_guns_001.JPG http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/photo205/003-9.jpg If you don't mind me asking, where did you come up with the little gobbler graph...

Show some shot guns
I keep downsizing. Started out with a single shot ten gauge that I don't own anymore. Went from there to a Benelli Nova with a 28" barrel that handled about like a boat paddle and kicked like a mule. Then there was a BPS that I won at the NWTF banquet a few years ago.........I liked it ok but i...

Re: Different
It's probably a combination of all the things listed above, but another thing is that if you fool with a turkey a few times and pay attention, you'll start eliminating some things he doesn't like and concentrating on things he likes. Of course this can change from day to day so it doesn't always wor...

Re: witty-wha-too
How long now until somebody produces a call that is guaranteed to make deadly witty-wa-toos? I don't know if I've ever heard that particular sequence, but it seems to me that hen turkeys are almost constantly making little soft whines. I think any kind of little soft whistle mixed with a few of thos...

Re: Some feedback appreciated on new hunting gear.
Seems to me like those box calls and pot calls would rattle alot strapped to your leg.........They'd be moving around alot more than they would be in a vest.
Honestly if I was gonna put on something that big I would rather it be a vest with a cushion and a place to store water.

Re: Public Land Strategies
There goes that deer hunting mentality again. "hunt over sign". Seems to imply fellas that do it are just ambushers. Far, far from it. -quote I wasn't implying that at all.....far from it. I don't mind hunting over a bunch of sign and not hearing anything at all if it's on a place w...

Re: cheap Wal-Mart calls
I love the little Rocky top boxes. They're getting pretty common now. I don't use a pot call much but I always thought those first Old Yellers that came out were about as good as any of them. I know they're massed produced and there are always a few duds, but a K&H Screamin Hen 2 that is "r...

Re: Public Land Strategies
They don't know they're on public land as long as you don't tell them. .......they're still gonna act like turkeys you just have to be a little more gentle with them As far as scouting goes, we've always hunted mountain birds so we just get on a high place and listen. I walk around a lot in the wood...

Re: fall hunters?
I didn't miss the point I just kinda got off topic. Least I don't think I missed the point anyway. My point (and I think your point) was that one reason Alabama has such a good gobbler harvest year after year is that we protect our hens and let the turkey factory keep producing. I don't want anythin...

Re: fall hunters?
I've never really trusted that survey to come up with the numbers on Alabama's turkey harvest. If they surveyed me, I would never tell them I had killed a limit because I would fear if too many people told them that they might want to cut back the limits to protect the population..........On the oth...

Be super nice if you could get another slam and kill one of each subspecie with the respective call. It would give you a great excuse to plan out another slam anyway
