Re: Requesting pertinent info on Wiinchester SXP 20 gauge
I removed the open sights just because I didn't plan on using them. The factory choke did 140swith HW7. I can't remember on TSS, but I ended up going with a TL .585. If you want to see high numbers with HW7 and TSS, try the cheap .570 Primos TW. It was way too tight for hunting with both shot types.

Re: Requesting pertinent info on Wiinchester SXP 20 gauge
Teh interwebs were all atwitter over those slam-firing a while back. I would guess the issue has been resolved by now. The only complaints I saw were of the 12ga. Have you seen any on the 20s? The floating firing pin apparently had enough mass to set off a primer if you slammed the bolt home hard o...

I'm going to try the 100 and 95 NPTs in my Dan Dowling 6-06 as well. I've never tried those two pills in it, but they oughta be a hammer at those speeds.

Re: Turkey season is over....
Thanks guys! Tommy, It's a Brux #3 8 twist finished at 24" with a 1" shank. Dad is a big fan of Walnut, so he was dead set on it for this build. I picked up a new pull-off CDL stock and will pillar bed it to combat any swelling issues. I'll prob fit the channel and begin pillar bedding nex...

Turkey season is over....
So now it's time to think rifle :D Just got this back and plan to pillar bed it into a stock soon. Building this for Dad, it's his first custom. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Reloader01/IMG_0143_zps0olk0a3z.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Reloader01/IMG_0146_zpsefa3oyqk.jpg I picked ...

Re: Requesting pertinent info on Wiinchester SXP 20 gauge
Great gun. The trigger is a little finicky to adjust when speaking of a quick and crude fix. It's like a two stage set-up, so you have two weights to deal with. I was able to make mine very usable by lightening the first stage or "take-up" stage by stressing that particular spring. I now h...

Re: Don't overlook this cheap choke for Fed HW 7's in 20ga 8
It is an awesome choke with HW for sure. I don't hunt with HW, but like to test them in new guns. My SXP did 170s and 190s with the two I fired out of a TW .570. They were too tight for hunting for me, but sure was nice to see a cheap choke do so well.

Re: Question on Cerakoting
Once you cerakote, you're stuck with that, a different coating, or dipping from then on. CK does come off, but you're left with bead blasted metal that'll need recoating, matte blued, or dipping etc.

Re: 3" and smaller
The HS Lil Deuce is hands down the best pot I've ever heard and I've heard a great many. I know that sounds impossible that a cheap call could beat high dollar customs, but the proof is in the pudding. I even buy them to remove the surface and add aluminum. The Al over glass LD call is down right se...

Re: 11-87 reliability
I've two 1187s, one is probably nearly 20years old. Never had an issue out of either of them.
Just as an FYI, the newer 1187s are a bit lighter than the old ones.

The beauty of Tungsten shot......
Many seem to think that everyone jumps on the TSS wagon to be able to snipe turkeys at long range, but that's just simply not true. Let me show you a small example of the positive attributes of the shot..... My good buddy Nick has a young boy by the name of Carson. Carson is a small guy that came in...

You can buy the butt stock alone from Rem. Really no since in buying the 870 kit since the forearm does you no good. That said, some guys with the old short forearm, may buy it from you. I like the extended forearm much better myself.

They can pin point a hen's call better than most give them credit for. When you know he's coming, try waiting him out.
