Re: evolution of a fall turkey hunter
Thanks Hal! I pretty much have a good idea where they roost so I thought we would try there. One of the land owners near us has a feeder on his property so they never get too far from there. They have to cross my property if they plan to head that way. I've got one boss hen that absolutely whooped m...

Re: evolution of a fall turkey hunter
I'd like to hear some of your techniques. Start from the time you get out of your truck. I've always heard you bust a flock or find their roost site. Me and Leah are going this year to try our luck. I have never hunted in the fall really, but in our county you can kill 6 so why not. I need the ol tr...

Re: 2015 Weatherby SA-459 Pics and Patterns
gophert, That's a nice looking rig that's throwing really nice patterns! What are you running for a sight? ...and what is the sight guard that you are using? Jeff It's a Burris FastFire II in a Warbird guard. Unfortunately, Warbird stopped making them so I guess that makes them a collectors item :t...

Go get a Carlson's!!! It's cheap and will out perform most of the high dollar chokes. Ebay has lots of them.

Re: Please Pray for Tommy's (SHOOTER ) Wife !
I just got a text from Tommy. She seems to be doing ok, just sore, which is to be expected. I'm thinking her biggest issue is that she can't get away from Tommy.

Where did my little girl go
I remember taking this little girl and sitting her down next to me at the base of a tree. I then woke up and she is a freshman. Re: Weatherby SA459 TK Chokes and Sight Mounts
Gophert, you should get a commission, since you were the one that got me interested in this gun in the first place. Joining Gobblernation has cost me some money! Yes, I figure I am responsible for probably 5 or 6 purchases and I have to agree, I spend way more on turkey hunting since joining ...

You are so right. I was thinking of calling him and telling him to open his patterns up a bit so I could open mine up some.Spuriosity wrote:It's not the trigger causing the misses, it's those patterns that are 3% tighter than El Diablo's.

Re: 2015 Weatherby SA-459 Pics and Patterns
I wanted to give an update on this gun. I ended up sending the trigger assembly off to Rob Roberts Gun Works to take some of the creep out of it and lighten it up. I got it back yesterday (it only took 5 days with mailing time) and it is FANTASTIC!!!! It has hardly any creep with a nice clean break....

Re: Weatherby SA459 TK Chokes and Sight Mounts
I have the 20 ga 2015 model so I can't help you with what choke is the best. However, the best way to mount the FFIII on this model is on the picatinny rail and mount. The top of the receiver is too rounded to use the Burris 336 mount. We cut my rail down some so it looks a little cleaner. http://i1...

I guarantee you could kill a bird with it and a gang of jakes would not be able to knock it over. It wasn't very portable.RapscallionVermilion wrote:You kill a tom over that and I'll buy you a box of your favorite shells.

I love it when I have the time. Went for the first time this year with my dad and we caught 15 of these on top water in grass. They sure get the heart rate up.
