Re: Top 8 Tips To Avoid Excess Baggage On A Flight

My parents during the last healthy year's of dad's life, traveled to England often when Delta offered cheap flights to London directly from Atlanta. They became masters of doing with less on trips. The only luggage taken was carry on and they didn't go to fancy restaurants or hotels. Once when mom a...

Re: Mossberg: Anyone Have An Inside Man?

You didn't say how old she is. You have other options from Mossberg other than the SA 28. The Super Bantam M500 is inexpensive in either .410 or 20 ga. Both are lightweight, and while fixed breech, can be downloaded into recoil friendly velocities and payloads. Gil

MuttPak 2.0 depicted in January after wild quail hunt. Abby on the right with Willa found and held the first covey by herself. On August 24th, her left side of her larynx was surgically stitched to her trachea as she was suffering with progressive paralysis of the larynx. Untreated, she would have s...

MuttPad Dogware Upgrade to MuttPak 3.0

Last Saturday, my wife and I picked up my 75th birthday present, an 8 week old French Brittany (Epagneul Breton) to complement my two American Brittanys, Abby, 12.5, and Willa, 9 years old. Hopefully she’ll be ready to join them this winter for woodcock and quail. The difference between American and...

Re: Rizzini Beccaccia 28 ga.O/U

I have two F.A.I.R. Rizzini SXS, 28 ga., and 16. Both are round action doubles with chemical case hardened colors; nice looking but aren't the bone and charcoal colors that was done in the old guns.

Rizzini Beccaccia 28 ga.O/U

While watching a recent TGS, at about 1:20, a Rizzini host features the above gun. It comes with an aluminum action, double or single triggers and screw-in chokes and 24" barrels. Designed with woodcock in mind, it would make an excellent lightweight turkey gun. It's not available in the US at ...

Re: Project gun with DIY paint job

Very nice work. I've Duracoated and rattle-can sprayed guns. My experience leads me to believe that the rattle-can application of a well prepared, degreased surface is better in the long run than a Duracoat or, gasp, a Ceracote finish for the simple reason that the latter two aren't easily repaired ...

Re: Over Under VS Semi Dove Guns

The Chessie has a well-earned reputation of being a one person dog and distrustful of strangers and slow to warm up to anyone new. Then there was Red, a Chessie, who was a small town dog that everyone knew. He was owned by retired physician in a middle Georgia small town of 2500 where my wife grew u...

Re: Over Under VS Semi Dove Guns

A good friend successfully field trialed a Chessie. He looked more like a Grizzly than a dog. Neva would get into my buddy's duck boat while he parked the truck and trailer. Another local hunter had a big lab that was aggressive to other dogs. Miserable to be around if you had a dog with you. Dog ma...

Re: Over Under VS Semi Dove Guns

Even with a dog, shooting doubles in fields with cover is a sure fire way to lose one bird, or spend more time looking for birds on the ground than in the sky as action can be fast and short. One field owner asks that people only shoot one at a time as many birds are lost shooting doubles. Gil

Re: ebike for hunting

As he humped the trail for the gobbler of his desire,
A chubby e-biker sped by raising his ire,
“Don’t be glaring at me, it’s a legal 750 watts”,
“I can sleep longer, blast past closed gates and still shoot my shots”
The hiker bowed his head, prayed and hoped for a timely flat tire.

Re: Over Under VS Semi Dove Guns

Most will kill as many doves with a double vs. an auto whether side by side or over and under with fewer shells shot. In most hands, the third shot is an often "I wish I didn't do that shot." If the guns weigh the same, a gas operated auto has less felt recoil than a break action. Gil

Re: ebike for hunting

Ga. DNR took a blind man's view of e-bikes. Since Ga. Motor Vehicle Licensing laws don't recognize an e-bike under 750 watts to be a "motorized" vehicle for licensing purposes under the law, then a 750 watt e-bike would be allowed wherever foot or pedaled bike travel is allowed. DNR could ...

Mark Drury sold a lot of silent dog whistles as shock devices back in the day. They worked great, only problem was the gobble was silent, too. Gil
