Re: Are turkeys going the way of the quail
There's been a drastic decline here in North Louisiana in the past 5 years and it seemed to start around 8-10yrs back. The main differences I've seen during that decline in the places I hunt is drastic increase in hog, coon, and coyote population, but most of all a change in timber co management. On...

Re: Hal’s 2 1/8oz 20ga load
Shot the 20moa today. It's less recoil than a 3" longbeard for sure. Considerably more than the trusty stubby 20 co. Shot it in a little bitty 500 turkey thug that weighs very little. Now the zip load of Hals....that runs 1260ish fps and 1 5/8 oz. It kicked. Nothing scientific like reloader ha...

Re: Hal’s 2 1/8oz 20ga load
It's going to be very interesting to see how long the lugs hold up in the autos mentioned. What do you think the recoil could be compared to? This load will have 84 ftlbs of recoil For comparison a 12ga 3.5 with 2oz load at 1300 only has 75ftlbs. 84 is one heck of a recoil IMO. It’s going to kick n...

Yes it is, I like mine. I like it so much I bought a SA08 for my son and another for me to use as field guns and they run like a sewing machine.

Re: Hal’s new Lil Zip 1260fps 1 5/8oz load
I can tell you that when working up my own 1-5/8oz loads in 20ga that when I got in the 1200-1260fps range, the recoil was obnoxious. I honestly felt like something was going to break on the various light weight guns I was testing, they just aren't designed for that type of punishment in my opinion(...

Re: TSS Shooters .. Don't Ban Me!!
Some of the trailing 9s will stick in the meat, but most blow thru. If you want to be sure you have pass thrus on breast, I'd step up to 8s, but you will not have as forgiving of patterns as it tends to pattern a bit tighter percentage wise. You obviously will not have the high numbers on paper eith...

Re: Dipping vs Coating
I've ran both. Cerakote is not bullet proof as some will have you believe, I've had 6 guns CKd and it does come off in wear areas. My youth 870 is CKd in Patriot brown and it's held up better than paint, but not much better than my dipped guns as I have scratches here and there, wear on moving parts...

Re: My New Ride
You'll like it. I have 24k on my new '16 and it's a sweet truck. Too many bells and whistles for me, but it get's the job done in style. My only complaint is mine rides a lot rougher than the 07 I traded in. The better mileage makes up for that gripe though.

Re: Turkey season is over....
I got my hands on a like new used Remington Classic .257 Roberts in 1985, which I had converted to .257 Roberts Ackley Improved. I shoot the 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips over IMR 4350 @ 3,175 fps which is exceptionally accurate in my rifle. I've loaded from 85 gr.-120 gr., but the 100 gr. in my ...
