Re: Some good info
WOW he is teaching how to call. Shouldn't he know how to use one first or at least know what a turkey sounds like.

Re: 1 Box
I don't know exactly how many box calls I own. I've never counted them all and I have calls from almost all of the big name call makers. The best sounding call i own is from Pat Strawser. Hands down sounds like a hen. #2 is from Scott Whitter.

Re: Mouth Call Making Discussion
For those talking about cutting the tape. Several years ago I talked Thad into making me a smaller tape cutter. It's not his normal big cutter. He said if you just cut 100 calls or so a year this should last you a long time. It's awesome and I only paid like 150.00. It was well worth it. I don't eve...

Re: Mouth Call Making Discussion
Bullet you have to crimp the front of the frame on both sides before you pull the back tension. Once you pull back tension crimp the back of the horseshoe where the tab is and I bend the tab over before I release the needle nose pliers. There are different ways to gauge your back tension. The most a...

Re: Which do you prefer?
Depends on where the turkey is. If they are in the flat I'll hunt them there. If they are on the hill I'll hunt them there. Just depends on where the turkeys are.

Re: Mouth Call Making Discussion
Thats exactly what it does. When you stick it on top of the theraband just slide it left to right as you push the frame in so it doesn't stick to the frame. You can get way more accurate with putting the latex to the front of the frame and very even. Much easier to replicate calls. No slipping on 2 ...

Re: Mouth Call Making Discussion
Tom I am like you in that I keep the call in the press until after I stretch my back tension. Also something I do is take a thicker piece of thera-band and put it down first. Then I lay my latex on top of that. What that does is give me some support when I put the frame on there is a piece of therab...

Re: Mouth Call Making Discussion
Usually a thicker reed will go on the top and thinner reeds underneath. I had a Folgers coffee can full of dead calls. Funny thing after I bought my small hand jig, the first call I made wasn't bad at all and I could easily kill turkeys with it. I called the guy who I got the jig from (Arnie Johnath...
