Forcing Cone Lengthening?
If I were you I would spend every penny I had set aside for improving my shotgun on TSS. If you have the TSS, all the other stuff will be fine regardless. I'm shooting my 20 gauge with a $14 flush fit choke and I don't even have the barrel polished and it is throwing 500 in the 20" at 40 yards ...

Not trying to argue with you by the way. Those are just the numbers put out by the Florida FWC on their website.

I looked. Seems like the harvest numbers the state came up with for green swamp were around 80. No way to know how many birds were taken of a place that big really

Turkey Talker don't you hunt Green Swamp? 22 turkeys sounds like an incredibly low number of birds checked in over the course of a season for 50,000 acres.

Won a gun at the NWTF banquet
I actually contacted triStar about them a few days ago and they are not for sale to the public. Only way to get them is thru the NWTF. I think they are identical to the Yildiz but the Yildiz is alot shinier

Roost or not to Roost
I've noticed the same thing 3toe. In my experience if you're lucky enough to hear one of our birds gobble after he flies up in the evening it means he is by himself and is on fire. Unless you mess something up really bad he'll be the closest thing you can get to an "easy turkey" the next m...

Roost or not to Roost
It's so rare for one of our birds to gobble in the evening that I never make a special trip to the woods to do it.
If I'm hunting in the evening anyway I'll always stand around til dark and try to roost one but it hardly ever works.
I do hear them fly up sometimes

I'd handle 'em real gentle and be sure not to mess them up for the next morning. Hearing them fly up would be considered a win for me, killing one of them would be gravy. The way that bottlenecks it would be about as close to a layup as a man could get the next morning as long as you didn't alter wh...

You have to be patient until the turkey dictates otherwise.

2nd Gobbling Peak
Met a kid who did some post grad work at Ms State who said the research says Fact. He and some other students went and listened for gobbles for a time and found it to be a truth. And I guess I could have worded this better than a simple fact or fiction.. It seems as if popular turkey hunting media ...

Drumming
Other than the occasional stupid one that comes running in where you don't have much time to remember anything, I can only remember one turkey that I have ever killed that didn't drum almost constantly from the time they got within hearing until the time I pulled the trigger. This particular one I t...

Actually that works great for geese. We never got into it enough to buy layout blinds, but we used to lay right in the middle of the decoys and cover up with some of those big oversized goose decoy shells It's fun when they try to land right on top of you

K&H Screamin' Hen 2 is my absolute favorite, but you have to buy up several to get a couple that sound right. I like alot of the Hook's calls too they seem to be more consistent than others.

Re: Best advise
I started turkey hunting hard about 20 years ago.......buddy of mine took me and we got on some turkeys mid-morning and called up two together and I killed one of them....didn't take ten minutes from the time we got on them. Went back again and he called up another turkey that I got nervous and shot...

Barrel length
I guess I've always just had good luck with short barrels. Best thing about these days is that you can read on the Internet about everybody else's research for free and then go buy the combo that works best for them and it usually works just as good for you. I knew when I bought that 870 compact tha...

21" barrel on my 20 gauge with a flush fit choke. Every inch you can save in the woods makes it that much easier to get around...........especially after green up. I've ran a turkey off 2 different times trying to negotiate a vine in front of me and get my 28" barrel with extended turkey c...
