Re: Today is 2 Days After
If a couple of beers can lube and help my golf swing, then a couple of beers every day certainly will help that crick in the knee joint too.

Re: Fall Hunting
Fall turkey hunting has a long running tradition in Pennsylvania, particularly in the "big woods" of north central PA. I enjoy chasing fall flocks as much as spring.

Re: Waterproof boots?
Started using Sitka gaiters couple of years ago, they go a long way to keeping your feet and pant legs dry whether tall, wet grass or snow in the fall seasons. Pant legs get wet, that water wicks right down your socks. Plus one more layer to treat with permethrin and keep the ticks out. Are the Sit...

Once I got the Sitka gaiters adjusted to fit me, I found they go on quick. Literally an extra 15-20 seconds.

Re: Waterproof boots?
This year I started wearing Firstlite Leg Gaiters. I found that when walking through all grass and leaves in the morning, the water was actually soaking through my pants, onto the top of my socks and into the TOP of my boots. The gaiters, combined with My Danner Boots kept my feet pretty-much dry a...

Re: Tips on Sighting in Turkey Gun with Red Dot?
Use the field loads and start with a large target at 20 yards. I put the shotgun in a solid gun rest, and fire the first one. With the solid rest and red dot on my initial aim point, and not touching the gun at all, walk the red dot to the center of the pattern. Load another field load and verify. T...

I guess I like being in control of when the next live round is chambered. I have never felt handicapped without a auto reload. Interested to hear opinions, because that's why I don't. Never compelled to own an auto for anything except a handgun. All pumps and singles here, prefer their simplicity.

Re: Anybody ever had a misfire?
At the below site, there is an excellent video on how to break it down to replace the hammer and trigger pull springs. I have heard accounts of misfires being attributed to the primer not being fully seated and the first firing attempt pushes it in without ignition which allows it to be fired on th...

Sounds familiar. Grew tired of chasing lot numbers with Hevi.
On the handloaded TSS train now. The Hevi and the single shot 12 gauge are the backup gun.

Re: What's your closest turkey kills
Late season, got in right under them in the hemlocks, satellite gobbler flew down and came quiet to the alpha gobbling still in the tree. Gobbler walked past me at 5, maybe 6 steps, and about to break over the edge into the head of the hollow. Heavy, dark storm clouds - legal shooting hours but stil...

Congrats, cool story.
This May will mark 24 years since my first spring longbeard. My turkey hunting mentor was with me, but after a couple seasons watching and learning, he let me run that hunt start to finish on my own.

Really nice trumpet, his .45 is a killer design. Really like mine with ironwood and amber. You got yourself a really nice one with the blackwood.

A portobello sort of tastes like steak - ones I've eaten some were better than others. What would a morel compare to, or just a taste of its own?

@paboxcall... You know how when you cook a s'more and you have a campfire and the smell of the burning wood and the crackling of the fire. You crack open a cold one and you roast the marshmallow and put it on the chocolate and add the graham crackers and you are all excited and you bite into it and...

I didn't grow up in a family of shroom hunters, and never had a chance to eat one.
What do they actually taste like? I've eaten portobellos, but never these. A buddy is big into picking them, just curious what the fuss is about.
