You don't feed corn to cows by a cup. That wouldn't fly with a warden

rain gear
Nope. If it's warm you might as well enjoy the rain. If it's chilly I wear cabelas space rain wear. Light and packable but you will get wet in a soaker or all day rain eventually. You have to spend big money for actual waterproof rain gear like what they use in Alaska but it would be to hot for here

Ticked off in kentucky!
I can't ever recall getting a tick on me while hunting. Maybe cause I don't have fields to walk thru?

I can't figure out what would cause that. He pulled the trigger after the shot and the hammer dropped so it obviously didn't before as you have to cycle it to reset the hammer.

Re: Measuring Spurs
Measure the spur from the lower edge of the base to the tip, following the curve if there is any. Measure spur only, not scales or skin. measure with a flexible tape as you would if you were measuring a antler or horn. Give it what it is, none less, none more. I have also seen some of those pics of...

Re: Help with M2 336 mount with FF3
The sight is screwed directly to the 336 base. That's why it's so low profile. Yes you will need a 8-40 taptubecaller10 wrote:Also, how does it secure to the 336 mount without the picatinny adapter?

Re: 20ga vs 28ga. Let's get real boys
A BPS?? They're nice but.....that thing weighs 7lbs. He want listen. It's like talking to a wall. Bps are well built and I would argue that Brownings put up the tightest patterns but what's the point in dropping to the smaller gauges if you're still packing 12ga weight. 28ga I would go with a o/u b...

Craziest thing that spooked a bird
Any weird things happened that cost you a bird? Yesterday I had one in range and a widow maker fell out of the top of a dead pine 15 yards behind me and he blew out. No wind at all. I thought it was a turkey flying up at first but quickly realized it wasn't. Scared the shat out of me

Re: Some Iowa help please
I done some research on a place stumpy told me about and the only thing I could find was where some guy said to stay away from the timbered area on the north side. Said it was called fairy hill and a bunch of queers meet up there and do whatever they do and said he saw some naked guy running around ...

Re: TSS Long Shots
Yep, turkeys are stupid creatures. They are actually too easy to kill to need all this stuff. But, as dumb as they are, folks still have trouble killing them with out all these tents, strutters, and extra long range shot. Makes me laugh. im with mkw. I feel that turkey hunting has evolved in ...

Tick repellant is something I've never used. I can't ever recall finding one on me turkey hunting. Don't wear snake boots either even after nearly stepping on a rattler . Lime disease is no joke though.

Re: Hows the gobbling?
The population has been on a steady decline for several years in my main hunting areas here in La, so nothing going on there. Not to mention it's rained nearly every day lately. I got in a good pocket of birds the last two days while carrying kids on the youth hunt. It rained both days, so no talki...

Re: Hows the gobbling?
We're short on gobblers in Middle GA. I listened several mornings in a row and only heard about a dozen. The one I killed yesterday was still henned up in the middle of the day. A friend is heading down Wednesday to hunt with one of his friends that lives there. Said it's been slow. Few roost gobbl...

Re: Hows the gobbling?
Went to Tenn this morning and heard 9. Roost gobbling was slow but they fired up after fly down and gobbled good till about 9:15. What part of the state, or what county? Just trying to get a general idea because not much going on in my neck of the woods (that I'm aware of). Far northeast part in Su...

Re: Official I missed thread... 2015 Edition
Shot a sweet gum tree instead of my gobbler the other morning. Thought I was clear of it but obviously not. Sucks, but it is part of it. At least I did not cripple him. Also my 8 year old son got to shoot at his first yesterday morning and shot over him at 23 steps. It was a great hunt and I wish h...
