Re: Electronic hearing

I use the Walker Razor w/ bluetooth for listening at night or daybreak. It helps hearing those way far off gobbles, but I find it hard to triangulate. Once I hear a bird with the Walkers I'll take them out and listen again to better pinpoint. Two other issues you just have to deal with using amplifi...

Re: barrel length

Depends on how you hunt. A short barrel isn't a bad idea, matter of fact if you chase birds up and down ridges and through the big timber, its the perfect idea. But if you hunt field edges all day with a ATV or short walk in, or sit in a blind over dekes waiting for something to happen, then a 30&qu...

Re: Gun or shells

I hunt a couple weeks each spring chasing turkeys across steep, rocky ridges and I'm awfully hard on a shotgun. Function over form. Its a tool, it just needs to function on demand. I picked up a "used" Mossberg 500 Super Bantam on GB early spring 2019, seller took it on trade and this gun ...

Jim - The outgoing messages sit in your outbox until the recipient logs into the forum. Once that happens then the message is delivered.

Might want to try and track down the forum user's email address.

Re: Gulvas mouth calls

These are the only mouth calls I’ve ran for probably 15+ years. They are different than other calls for sure, you need to forget everything you know about running a diaphragm call. I do believe they produce a natural sound that’s superior to anything else out there. I would strongly agree with this...

I have a liking for hand whittled strikers. My favorite is an osage orange, whittled with a pocket knife by an old turkey killer from WV.

Re: advantages of a trumpet

I just watched/listened to Dave's trumpet video. Those two fellas are a cut above what I've heard before especially the guy in the mossy oak. That's some crazy good quiet and mid range stuff. I didn't listen to all of it, but wonder if they can hit higher volume for more open country?? I doubt that...

I have Verizon. Guys I hunt with in remote parts of the northeast who don't, ask to borrow my smart phone to call home or check email. For coverage Verizon can't be beat.

Re: A Little Brisk

Wow that is cold. No thanks. Bad enough guys like George and me deal with lake effect snows much of the season. Every year I wish more and more to look out the window and see a cactus and red rock, instead of perpetual 6-8 inches of snow.

Re: Whats your favorite box call???

I like boxes. Maybe too much LOL. Tons of great callmakers out there. Keep your eye on the classified sections of the turkey forums, quality / well tuned box calls coming up for sale all the time. Personally, I stay away from production boxes.

Well, didn't take long for me to add a new Marlin Watkins to the vest. The mac ebony/pear I have above is an incredible call, but I wanted something just a bit higher and touch less rasp. Enter Marlin's chakte viga over black limba misfit. I'm a box call hunter, my preference is a long box or a mini...

Likewise, I choose to shoot a 2.75" shell with 1 3/8th oz. #9s. Its plenty and then some. Follow through on Brice's recommendation, you'll be pleased.
