Re: the most effective close-in call?
When they are close, I'd rather not use a call that depended upon hand movement. I prefer soft clucks on a diaphragm. I also like to keep both hands on the gun when they are in close which also rules out boxes or slates.

Re: TSS vs. Hevi shot
Every shot in a TSS load has the same penetration and energy regardless if it is in pattern's middle, center or outside.

Re: do you have the traits of a skilled turkey hunter?
He left out to always sit where the turkey wants to go. Don't sit where he doesn't want to go. Always make the call the turkey wants to hear. Call just enough to fool the turkey. This is the Goldilocks technique. You'll know if you are doing it right if you shoot the bird. Know in advance where the ...

I'd love to have a pattern that reversed those numbers with 382 in the 10-20 and 211 in the 10.

Re: 28 ga. & .410 turkeys
pm hawglips about tss. In the meantime, use #7.5 shot rather than #6. With #6, you will run out of pattern density before penetration and #7.5 is deadly for head/neck regions inside 30 yards. Pattern the gun at 30 yards with the shot. If you don't have about 100 inside the 10" ring, you'll need...

Re: Striker Display
My favorites are the three little ones with the dogwood blossoms carved in the antler butts. I lost a small one that was a morel mushroom carved out of an antler. I came out with a bird, however, after the loss.

Where the dot lies, the shot flies. Most of the time. Sometimes the dot must not be on the head when the trigger is pulled.

Re: scope or red dot?
Trijicon Reflex or RMR red dots for those who worry about batteries going dead. No batteries, but a tritium lamp supplemented with fiber optics illumination. Very expensive, however. The battery life of most is measured in years, not hours. It's a simple preventive maintenance job to replace the bat...
