I like shooting those blacks in the timber. When they decide they want in a place they're coming and there really isn't much you can do to stop them
We can only shoot one a day here though, so you have to be careful at first light when they're coming in mixed with mallards

I wear the ol Tom shirt and the trek lite pants. I have a pair of the ol Tom pants but they don't fit good and I have to pull them up around my eyes to get the knee pads to actually hang at my knees

Re: What is the next old school?
Here's the whole deal with this "old school" thing.............When a guy starts out turkey hunting, most of the time he's basically clueless. He will buy anything he can afford to help him kill a turkey, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to people who actually know how to kill turkeys,...

Chestnut oak is first here, then the red oak subspecies with the larger acorns, then white oak/post oak and finally the red oaks with smaller acorns.

Last I heard Toussaint was not yet suspended.............has there been an update? If he's not suspended by now he probably won't be. I was kinda surprised to hear he wasn't.
Even if he plays, it's hard for me to see a scenario where Michigan would be likeley to beat Alabama.

If I'm not mistaken, USC already has 2 DL and a linebacker injured....... They don't have a lot of depth, so they could run into big problems if they're unlucky with injuries That being said, I would think that the championship game would pair the SEC champ vs USC/Oregon most likely with a chance fo...

If you can't sit still it don't matter what you wear, but if I'm fooling with a turkey I'm sitting against the base of a tree 99% of the time. It just seems logical to me that I need to look as much like bark as possible. I wore bottomland when it came out and loved it, then they quit making it and ...

No way to know for sure guesswho, I tried to look down their beaks to see their jawbones but I couldn't figure out how. Any wild turkey you can trick good enough to get into shotgun range is a trophy; that's one thing that makes turkey hunting so great.......but still the first thing I do every time I kill one is grab that leg so I can see what kind of spurs he's got Beards are cool but they really don't mean anythin...

Anything beyond medium rare and you start to ruin venison or duck in my opinion. I've always figured that's why a lot of folks say they don't like wild game: they never had any that wasn't burnt

I remember not long after i started turkey hunting I got on a turkey years ago that hung up in wide open big timber at about 60-70 yards and I sat there and watched him strut and gobble for the better part of an hour..........finally a hen comes walking to him in a fast trot and yelping continuously...

I'm just about ten miles or so from there. Our young lives used to revolve around Mud Creek and Crow Creek back in the day. There's a deep (deep by crow creek standards anyway) hole up past the park where we used to catch some big fish every spring. Friend of mine hung probably the biggest bass I've...

They can definitely tell when the leaves change from scratching in one spot and begin moving, even if it's just a few feet. There has been more than one time I've tried to crawl towards one a little and he has ended up meeting me half way. If you have to crawl in the woods, there is no way to do it ...

Nice pics Savduck...........that big bluewing is almost as big as those gadwalls. We hardly ever see those here until after the season goes out. I've never hunted there, but I've always been told the Atlantic flyway had tons of black ducks. Is that still the case?

I can't imagine putting ducks in jerkey, but after You blasphemed turkey hunting like that I have to question your scruples anyway :D Sautéed wood ducks and runny eggs for breakfast after a morning shoot is a delicacy of the highest order as far as I'm concerned.
