Reading- THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE again.
This time of year, I like to reread some of my books. I guess, I have a small Library of 43 or so. I am up to page 10 already last night. Wish, I could Gobble with my voice like the Author. I can do the Yelps and Whit-Whits with my voice Box though as a finisher as, I do not use Mouth calls. Might s...

Fall Update--- 0 for 11 Days in NY-- But 1 Day Success In NJ.
New York was a Bust this Fall. I had fun hiking with a gun for 11 days out of our short 14 day Fall Season. I called up 4 young Gobblers on my 1st day in New Jersey though! The one, I shot weighed out at 18.4lbs at the Check Station. Just a young heavy guy. He had 1/2" spurs and a 5" beard.

Right now, it is still warm in New York. I was out Pheasant hunting on October 2nd and Honey Bees are still active. Fall Turkey got knocked back 3 weeks from Oct 1st in my area of New York. Looking forward to October 20th! I am going to take ABBEY out a few times for Fall Turkey Hunting and my calle...

How Many Members Here Has Taken A Nice Jake Or Jenny On The Wing?
This usually happens for me when, I am Pheasant Hunting and the Fall Turkey Season is open. If you are a good Wingshot with the Pheasants-- a Plump Jake or Jenny usually comes down easy.

My Brother in law also has a few Big Gobblers that visit his Lawn a few days a week. Zoned Residential-- No Hunting where he is the same as me. These People living in expensive Townhouses near me keep those Turkeys fed as well. I was out Hiking today at another State area and saw some good sign. Can...

Fall Turkey Hunting Looks Good For New York This October
I have had up to 15 Wild Turkeys that have been to my front yard all Summer. They love Shoprite Birdseed! I live on a Deadend and the last house. My Brother in Law has a Flock that visits his Lawn Regularly. Last weekend, I saw a good 20 Wild Turkeys on State Land. I live in Orange County and just 5...

Re: if money was no object.
I would buy at least 400 acres and post it very good! Always been my dream since, I took up Turkey Hunting in 1990 to own my Hunting Land. Open Hardwoods with a creek running through next to a huge field. That is what, I would want!!

Re: Calling In Spring Gobblers Before Opening Date On Land With No Hunting.
Hi Grumpy --- I am from New York. Far too much State Land here is closed to hunting. Harriman State Park is a good example. Almost 45,000 acres! Hiking only. Plenty of deer here--- but so many that most seem on the small side. Plenty of wild Turkey as well.Highland Lakes State Park is another that h...

Calling In Spring Gobblers Before Opening Date On Land With No Hunting.
I am thinking of doing this next Spring for the first time. Maybe try to film a Tom coming in. Dress up in drab Earth tones. Plenty of State Land in my area where Hunting is not allowed. Anybody here has tryed this in past Springs?

I think this coming Fall,I will get out much earlier in New Jersey when their Season opens in NOV. Last few years, I am seeing more and more Hikers getting out extra early. Even around Sunrise.. Public Lands are getting Tougher-LOL!

I have seen 2 broods so far in New York. June for the most part has been dry. I think there will be plenty of Jakes and Jennies around for me to go after in Late Oct in New York and NOV in New Jersey.

Re: FALL TURKEY HUNTING...
Sure they Gobble! Rare for mature Gobblers- but, when, I cut-- the Jakes often open up with those 1/2 gobbles. Then, I can scatter that flock to the 4-winds- have some time to make a quick blind and call them back.

Re: Lynch Box Call Sound
I don't know which one I have- AL or MS. It is the World Champion and I have had this Box and used it since 1995 or 96. I have had much success with this box mostly in the Fall Turkey Season by yelping 5 old hen Yelps on the Gobbler side and then Yelping 5 times on the Hen side. Have called in alot ...

I used to be in a number of hunting clubs. One had roughly 700+ acres. The hunting was a little tougher then on public lands .

My Toughest season also in New York and New Jersey. Not much Gobbling on most days-- sometimes just 1 Gobble from 1 bird. Public land is tough for sure. I did manage to take 1 NY Gobbler.

OK- here in Orange County,NY- we had 5 NorEaster snowstorms in March. NY opens on May 1st. Then- plenty of rain into April followed by Winter to Summer like weather for 4-5 days and here in May- just one rainy day after another including a dangerous Wind Storm that knocked power out in plenty of are...
