Re: Is it a Slam or not?
Thanks for the response hookspur that is more like what I am looking for. But you have still muddied the water for me. If to be a member of the original grand slam club you had to register the animals you killed and be accepted why would this not be true for the slam club for wild turkeys.

Re: Is it a Slam or not?
Thanks Gobbler but I have already read that. From what that says does it mean they didn't come up with the concept and are just keeping the records or did they come up with the concept. I don't think there was a canadian slam before the NWTF and I'm not sure most Canadians let alone residents of oth...

Re: Is it a Slam or not?
Thanks guesswho for the response. I am under the impression that the NWTF came up with this slam concept for the reason you state and perhaps some other more noble reasons that got warped with time.

Re: Is it a Slam or not?
So are you saying that before the NWTF there was a thing called a slam and if you killed certain sub-species of wild turkey you completed a slam. This is what I want to know. I thought that the NWTF started it and actually made up the sub-species and areas you need to kill them from.

Is it a Slam or not?
A member posted a question about what they needed to register a grand slam. A few members instead of answering the question posed their own question or made statements about slams. Rather than hijack that thread I am starting this one to ask a few questions. First I don't really care if you love or ...

Re: Getting the Grandslam...
Truthfully I can't really answer that question because I don't really have an answer. I have shot several moose and deer that would no doubt make book if not B&C , or P&Y at least the book in Ontario but I really don't care. I didn't register them because I really don't care if anyone else k...

I am a Lions fan first and then a New York Football Giants fan. I love Eli a true elite QB in the NFL. But I have to admit I wouild like some of the water that those Harbaugh's drink, and it would be cool to see a re-match of the 49's and the Ravens in the superbowl.

Re: Getting the Grandslam...
I got my Osceola and my best Eastern last year so I decided to register them in case I eventually get a slam. I took the forms with me after I printed them off the NWTF site. Only problem is I couldn't find anyone to co-sign as a member. So I just sent it in with the money. To my suprise about 10 we...

Hmm! Trying to keep secrets eh! Did you kill more than you were allowed too? Quit shooting the looker and the strutter and let one walk.

:laughing3: :laughing3: exactly. timbrhuntr, you can't apply these techniques in your neighborhood. Why not? The turkeys are always walking around all day in the field across the street. Its just not fair. I almost called one across the street once though. My daughter thinks its the funni...

Re: anybody else like it like I do?
I like the ones that gobble all the way. The sneaky ones I usually see when I get bored and decide to move and as I get up I hear that awefull sound of an alarm putt. The only bird I ever killed that came in quiet was the Osceola I killed last year. I got one gobble on the roost and one on the groun...

Re: Strutter Vs Looker
In Ontario you can shoot 2 birds but only shoot one a day. I have had this happen a few times and shot both the strutter and the looker because one was in a better position for the shot. I have usually had the opportunity in the next few days to shoot the other one. A buddy when I first started hunt...

Cooked ground turkey with taco mix put it on a nice bed of lettuce, top with chopped oinions, tomatoes, salsa, and a little cheddar. Oh ya and some hot sauce of course.
