Re: Any Colorado Turkey Hunters Here? Need advice please!
I have only hunted CO once myself (last spring),...and that was in the southwest corner near Pagosa Springs,...and near the end of the season. What we found there is that all of that country looks like great turkey habitat, but a lot of it seems to have very few turkeys in it. My advice is to 1) do ...

Re: Eastern "Mountain" turkeys
Years ago there was an old turkey range map which depicted a hybrid (intergrade?) region of Eastern and Osceola mix in northern Florida up into Georgia. At this point in time, I suspect that if a map was put together that truly showed "pure" subspecies populations in relation to hybridize...

Re: Eastern "Mountain" turkeys
Very interesting discussion. With the increasing advances in DNA analysis, it would be really interesting to see what genetic differences/variations exist in these isolated pockets of turkeys that still exist. I suppose its just a matter of time until someone has a "wild hair" to get into ...

Re: Eastern "Mountain" turkeys
When discussing purity of subspecies, it all comes down to isolation of genetics over time. The isolation that caused the creation of the recognized five subspecies was a function of geographic isolation over thousands of years. Once that isolation is eliminated, the process of hybridization is like...

The stuff looks good, but honestly, there is nothing that sets it apart in a clothing niche that is already flooded with similar merchandise,...stuff that is dirt cheap. If it is "priced to sell", it might make a dent in the market,...if not, I would be hesitant to invest much in it.

I haven't, but I did see a couple crackheads in Michigan on a street corner watching tape on a camcorder of some guy doing it. :LMAO: :LMAO: Good one! I had a couple of guys TRY to steal my video equipment one time,...until they realized I had a 30.06 with me and they were in range. :toot...

Re: Mouth Calls vs Friction Calls and Trumpet style calls
I think the common thread for those of us that have been doing this forever, it seems, is that we have had enough experience to know what a turkey sounds like in just about any situation,...and what that turkey is likely to do. Put us in a calling situation with a turkey and we can often anticipate ...

Re: Mouth Calls vs Friction Calls and Trumpet style calls
I agree that having confidence in whatever call you use is very important. Confidence in a call often equates with skill in the use of that call. A guy that is a "top tier" caller with a particular call or type of call will call turkeys day in or day out just because they know how to make ...

Congratulations to another successful Gould's hunter. Honestly, for anybody that is contemplating going to Mexico to hunt, in my opinion the safety concerns are blown way out of proportion. Congrats! Gould's are fun to hunt. ...Not the sharpest tools in the shed,...but fun nonetheless. Going to Mexico to hunt them is also an adventure. It is always a relief when you get back into the states without incident.

Re: I thought TX would rank higher for top Turkey hunting states?
They didnt do much research into that 'vast amounts of public land' in Texas. Also had Missouri's license cost wrong. Agreed on both. Yup. I suppose it all depends on one's perspective as to what "vast amounts" means, but any review on turkey hunting that includes that statement is automa...

Easy boys. As an unbiased observer over the years, I know that both of you have been around here long enough that no ill will was intended on either side. Now kiss and make up. As for the question, I used to put a notch in my "gun" every time I scored. I would put one about every quarter o...

Re: Goulds draw odds
Unless things have changed in the Arizona drawing system, my understanding is that to even enter the drawing you have to buy a non-resident hunting license that costs about $150, I think, and is non-refundable. You can get two bonus points each year for that $150 (spring and fall), but it costs you ...
