Imo it's all what you have confidence in they all will kill turkey's. I prefer pot calls and mouth calls.

Re: 8 Eastern Longbeards in 4 States using TSS
MO birds can be heavy! Biggest one I called in this year was 26lb 2oz. But his buddy that was with him only weighed 24lb 4oz and supported 1 9/16 spurs and tail fan was 32" wide when I dried it out for the wall. Girlfriend which has tagged along and shot birds with me in numerous state's always...

Re: How was your season?
Season for me had its up and downs. I only bought 7 tags for 3 state's and filled them 4 died with crossbow 2 with 12ga and 1 with 20ga. Called one in for my cousin which was the quickest hunt of the season just 8 minutes from the time we sat at the tree and got my call out. Called for 2 different f...

Well at 704 am girlfriend layed one out with 1187 with factory full at around 40 yds. 1187 20ga may be on the heavy side but there is not much recoil with them.

Re: Remington 870 20ga factory full
I too have 1187 20ga with 26" barrel and in that gun I use the full choke but also have the Remington super full and an Indian Creek 555. The full choke puts up very good numbers for a hunting pattern in my opinion

Re: only 1 gun to turkey hunt with
That's a tough one to answer! I would probably have to go with a winchester 1300 nwtf 12ga 22" barrel. It's been my bread and butter gun for 29 years. Many animals have met their demise to that gun.

Re: Over thinking chokes...
Heres my report... I shot this morning at lasered 40ydrs. 303 in a 10" and 135 in the 20" with the .558 IC Found it interesting that the more open choke shot tighter for me than the .555. When I counted up everything it was the exact same pellet count from the 10 - 20" as the .555 ju...

Had a bald eagle swoop in from behind us this spring and attack a hen decoy. Have also seen a red tail hawk attack a decoy too.

Re: Thermal imaging for turkey
It’t not legal here in TN, but a buddy of mine does have a FLIR thermal imaging monocular. I have scanned tree lines in the dark (not while hunting) and you can definitely pick them out from a long way off. IMHO, it goes WAY to far to be used in sport hunting, and I’m glad it’s illegal here. You co...

To each his own is my motto! Hunt, fish, success is in the eye of the beholder. If a scrub buck, doe, big 12Pt or hens and Jakes or big spurs make them happy so be it whatever makes a hunter happy is fine by me.

Night vision and thermal imagery not legal in MO. I don't shoot them until their feet are on the ground.
