Re: Zimmerman Found NOT Guilty by Jury and then......
Only Zimmerman knows what happened that night. If he was faced with the decision to shoot or be killed, that is one thing, and was entitled to self defense. However, he could've avoided the situation by listening to the 911 operator who told him to stop following and leave it to the police. I don't ...
Re: Can't
You are preaching to the choir. That's me, up here in the loft, wearing the camo choir robe and a head net. The single biggest expense in my turkey hunting is gas. The closest hunt i have burns 5 gallons--$17 +/-. The furthest is 150 miles round trip--$35. Last season on my Ga. limit I shot 3.25 oz....

Re: suggestions for a first time shotgun buyer
Gil is right. I loved my Ithaca. The only reason I sold it was cause it can slam fire. I'm down to 5 Ithacas. Two 16s, two 20s and 28 gauge. It has been more than 25 years since the last Ithaca made could slam fire. Without a doubt, my "go to" field guns for dove and snipe. My 20 gauge we...

Re: suggestions for a first time shotgun buyer
Well, since you liked the BPS, you'd love the Ithaca M37 which is the oldest designed pump still in production. It ain't cheap, however. The price is about what a Wingmaster 870 costs (not express). Suggested MRP is usually beat by a local gunshop which Ithaca will sell to at a discount. The quailit...

Re: suggestions for a first time shotgun buyer
Don't fool yourself into thinking one gun will satisfy the itch. The late Phil Gramm said: "I have all the guns I need, but not all the guns I want." 12 gauge is the most versatile. It can shoot from 3/4 oz. or less to over 2 oz. or more depending on shell length. Once the glow of your fir...

If I were to buy an auto, it would be a gas operated Beretta, any model. The older ones are hard to beat. Gil

Welcome aboard on your first post. Do you have a price limit or range? Do you want an auto, pump, side by side or over and under?

Re: Looks like Mossberg is trying to hang with the big dogs!
Unless the gun doesn't fire, it's the old adage; "it's the indian, not the arrow" when it comes to killing turkeys. Gun brand is no more relevant to killing turkeys than the truck brand you drove to the woods.

Re: Albert Paul Calls
Gil, have you tried a call holster to wear on your belt? Joe, I have, but every now and then it would jam on the ground when I'd sit. That's why I used to carry it around the neck. I don't carry a box all the time and it was convenient, but in hindsight stupid (and costly), to carry it in a unsecur...

Re: Albert Paul Calls
I remember seeing his advertisements years ago and it struck me that he was copying the Cost design. He might not have been the first to utilize the same checkering and inlets (Mann and Williams, and maybe a few others did so with the Cost blessing), but his advertisements in the hook and bullet mag...

Re: Albert Paul Calls
I have two Cost calls left. Several years ago I converted 4 into $$. I kept my first, made in '77 which I bought in '78 for $25. The butternut was the last call I bought from him and my favorite. Over the years up until the early '90s, I bought a dozen from him and gave seven to friends. I was lucky...

Re: Albert Paul Calls
Joe, the silver lining in losing the Paul box was that it wasn't one of my Neil Cost boxes. I had started carrying the "pocket" Paul call because of its size. Otherwise, the lost call would have been most likely my butternut Cost box. Gil

Joe, it was loose in my ghillie top pocket and must have fallen out in one of the most gawdawful tangles of ti-ti and cat brier my compass ever lead me into coursing a pre-dawn gobble.

I lost one like the bottom one depicted this past season. Holly and ebony. Henry Davis edition, short box. Nice sounding. It is in a ti-ti bay hopelessly lost. I was probably airborne walking limb to limb to get through the growing hell. P'Od about losing it through stupidity. Bastard bird stayed on...

Good gravy, Tommy, that is quite a bird--8' wingspan? Wow. What's the power plant? Jepson's hangar is incredible. You could eat off the floor. I've never been up in a WWII era plane, but had the privilege back in 2006 of cruising in the last battle-trim PT Boat. PT 728 built just before war's end wa...

If any of you ever head down I95 into Ga, a few miles past the SC/GA border is the Mighty 8th Museum along 95. It is a marvelous tribute to the men of the Greatest Generation, the "citizen soldiers" such as Jimmy Stewart, who flew the B17s and B24s during daylight raids into the heart of G...
