Here's a good program, 7 minutes, that doesn't require equipment other than a chair and a wall.

I thought everyone knew that a turkey can't be killed with a .410.

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
That's the season. I remember the bird standing in the middle of the dirt road 20 yards in front, nothing between the bird and his gun and he couldn't see it. I don't know many other granddads who wouldn't shoot, but you never shot any of the birds you called up for him. You heap better man than me,...

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
Dale, you talking about the time you drove up to my my truck, listening to the bird and “pow”. The next thing you saw was me with a turkey and gun slung on my back and me pedaling my Schwinn down the woods road back to the truck, grinning, or the time Helton was in Cainey Bay under a bird in the tre...

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
Tommy, I also don't mind shooting a gauge that is evenly divisible by 10. I stopped shooting a 10 as my regular gun when I discovered I could miss just as many with a 12 and not have to carry as much weight. Gil

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
TB, the Zoo bird was about 10-15 yards out when I missed. He had left me and come back and stood flat-footed in the two path road between the hardwoods and planted pines. Neither he nor I could believe I missed. When I shot, he was as still as the bronze CSA soldier standing on the granite pedestal ...

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
Whether I ever hunt it again had nothing to do with wanting it back. I just missed having the gun. The gun I'll be carrying opening morning will be my little Yildiz single shot .410 which weighs about a 1/3rd of what this brute weighs. I'll have some work done on the NID. I'll have the wood stabiliz...

Re: The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
Tommy, back in the late '70s early '80s, I had a Spanish 3.5" SxS 10", this Ithaca and a Mag 10. The 10 was the rage back with Kirby and Lee leading the pack with their Mag 10s. I can still see a photo of Ben Lee with his slung mag 10. The gun looked big even on him. I'll have to weigh the...

The Prodigal Gun Returns--Ithaca NID Magnum 10 gauge
Ever have a gun you sold and you later regretted doing so? Here’s mine. Today I got it back after selling it 20 years or more ago to a buddy. I traded him out of it after years of semi-begging for it. I bought the gun over 30 years ago from Thad Scott, a recently deceased gun dealer from Indianola, ...

Hal, probably won't use the Yildiz, might try the 220B .410, but have been thinking of the 28 CZ or Ithaca M37. Would have to order components, however. Gil

Hal, your old Woodcock has been a great general purpose gun for you. Once your eyeballs get a little age on them, will be curious how it works out on the tight turkey patterns and no sights or red dot. Gil

If it were me, I would send it off to have it fixed by a specialist who could also glass bed it. Here's a real pro who won't charge an arm and a leg:
