Re: HELP Please!!!! Osceola hunting ??????????????????
I believe the stories are true about pressure and rude hunters, but I definitely have not experienced the level of bad experiences others have referenced. Maybe I got lucky. I managed to kill one on public land in March that is supposed to be completely slammed with hunters. I had a few interactions...

Re: What's your closest turkey kills
My daughter’s first turkey last year was about 12 yards. She was shooting a O/U with the modified choke and 10’s, so plenty of pattern to cover any mistakes. Much closer and the margin of error would have been smaller.

I just bought some this morning, so yes they are still available. Surprised they lasted this long. Get them while you can.

Re: Chasing Slam this spring
Went to Oklahoma for a few days of paid experience gaining. Saw lots of ground and public land I’ve never experienced. Located some gobblers but didn’t have any real personal interaction. Drove about 1800 miles total. Visited over 30 pieces of public land. Watched some flocks of turkeys on private l...

Re: Sit here and shut up
Doesn’t sound like a turkey hunt I want to go on either. I know some people learn to deer hunt first and that style of hunting seems more normal. To me, you are missing the real thrill of turkey hunting, but to each their own.

Re: Let's talk about Decoys
I use a single hen decoy on occasion when I am sitting for a while blind calling because things are slow. I had a hen come in the other day after a run of yelps. She tried to make me call back to her again, but I stayed silent. She noticed the decoy. Checked her out and gave her a little chest bump....

23rd season for me. Unfortunately I did not have a mentor other than the great tom turkey himself. I sucked so bad for the first five or six years that I damn near quit. I did kill a turkey my first year though. I swear having a mentor easily cuts several years off the learning curve and am very gr...

Facebook treated me with a great memory today. The photo is me and my buddy Tommy each with our first longbeards on Fort Benning Georgia. We were at a 5 month course there with our buddy Clint. Clint is a lifelong turkey hunter and introduced us both to turkey hunting in the spring of 2011. I found ...

When do you think you'll be going for the Merriam's? I got the okay from my boss to work remotely for a week or so in May while hunting out of state. I'm looking at living out of the bed of my truck in KS sometime between May 15th and 22nd. I may shift it a little sooner depending on how MT is goin...

You inspired me. Last year’s turkey breast from my daughter’s first bird. Bacon wrapped and Wild Turkey Longbranch on ice.

Re: Chasing Slam this spring
Don’t be afraid to drive and hit multiple spots in a day if it’s possible. Turkeys in that part of the country usually have a roost sight they go to every day then fly down and may go a LONG way to a farm or somewhere with feed. Don’t be upset if they leave the property just go try some other spots...

Chasing Slam this spring
Since I was successful in Florida last week, I’m going to make a run at a slam this spring. I anticipate I should be able to kill and Eastern in Arkansas or Eastern Oklahoma as I’ve done in previous years. I’m heading to west Oklahoma next week to chase Rios and plan to head to northwest Nebraska in...

Congrats man! You can't beat persistence (maybe on the verge of stubbornness), a little bit of recent intel, and a bit of good luck. Like your gun by the way. I have a 28 I got recently that I haven't even been able to get fully dialed in before FL opened up. Finished here in FL and hoping to break...
