Wow. That looks awesome. We use pasilla peppers a lot here, especially in a dry rub for steaks. Thanks for the terrific recipe and detail. I will be trying this for sure.

Now, if you going to sneak up on that gator, you might want some of those magic mushrooms first.

Re: Thinking about a Kansas hunt with my son. How?
Kansas has a fantastic walk-in system. Kansas gets a lot more pressure than it used to, but I love going there every year. You can download all the maps to your laptop or your phone. For Rios, I think north central and north west will be your best bet. Personally, we much prefer cabin or house renta...

Dang, you did find a bunch....I thought you were out of breath yesterday when we talked because of the elevation....I'm thinking it was from all the mushrooms you were packing.... Hey Kenny, we were taking a shortcut through a deadfall when you called. Perfect timing  The connection kept...

Good mushroom hunt today
With all the rain we've been getting here, my wife and I figured it would be a good time to head to the northern New Mexico mountains to pick some mushrooms. This year is looking to be best crop in a long time. My wife snagged the first porcini. http://i567.photobucket.com/albums/ss114/mpdesja/First...

Fly fishing the Rio Grande headwaters
For a week every summer we rent a small cabin on the upper Rio Grande near the town of Creede, Colorado. This part of the Rio Grande and its numerous tributaries make for some really fine fly fishing. Creede is an old one street mining town from the silver boom of the late 1800s, with a fantastic su...

Stevens 555 in .410
That is a sweet gun. I would have had a hard time dipping that one because it was pretty to begin with, but I like the results. The only guns we had growing up were Stevens and Savage because the factory was close by and we could afford them; sometimes we bought the "seconds". I still have...

I especially like the second heron pic. Nailed the timing on that one. I kept expecting to see a funnel cloud forming on those sky pics.

What is your favorite lobster recipe? http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q87/dohearn/Bugs%20and%20Bass%202015/IMG_1609.jpg Drool. I can't stop looking. Food porn as fine art. Right out of a Down East cook book. I'll take it just like that with a bowl of melted butter. You are making me homesick for...
