Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions - More Info on the Yildiz

I just hate shooting my precious tss at paper. :) Have you considered making a shot trap? I saw some plans for a shot trap at one time. I think it was on OG maybe before the reloader's section got shut down. Looked for it the other night and couldn't locate it. Any body have a link to that or some ...

Re: Any waterfowlers in here?

I can't imagine putting ducks in jerkey, but after You blasphemed turkey hunting like that I have to question your scruples anyway :D Sautéed wood ducks and runny eggs for breakfast after a morning shoot is a delicacy of the highest order as far as I'm concerned. I do have a crock pot recipe that ma...

Anybody ever figured out a good way to cook geese? I love ducks but geese are kind of another story

Re: new loads

Seems like that 1 5/8 oz. load is perfect medicine for a twenty in 3" or 2 3/4. I haven't seen anybody yet that has shot it that doesn't love it.

It amazes me how well they can pinpoint sounds too, especially in hilly terrain.

The Super Bantam 20 is in both photos. Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

It had never even crossed my mind before reading this thread that a light side-by-side shooting big loads could actually jump out of somebodys hands to the point that it would change the POI. I guess that makes perfect sense though, especially the right barrel for a right handed shooter jumping away...

Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

Preacher if you think recoil is effecting the pattern, you might could put the gun in a lead sled real tight and shoot it a few times to be sure.........it might still move enough to effect the pattern but it might not move as much. Might make enough of a difference to see it that's what causing the...

Show some shot guns

I keep downsizing. Started out with a single shot ten gauge that I don't own anymore. Went from there to a Benelli Nova with a 28" barrel that handled about like a boat paddle and kicked like a mule. Then there was a BPS that I won at the NWTF banquet a few years ago.........I liked it ok but it was...

Re: Different

It's probably a combination of all the things listed above, but another thing is that if you fool with a turkey a few times and pay attention, you'll start eliminating some things he doesn't like and concentrating on things he likes. Of course this can change from day to day so it doesn't always wor...

Re: witty-wha-too

How long now until somebody produces a call that is guaranteed to make deadly witty-wa-toos? I don't know if I've ever heard that particular sequence, but it seems to me that hen turkeys are almost constantly making little soft whines. I think any kind of little soft whistle mixed with a few of thos...

Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

Everything I read about roll crimping said that the crimper has to actually run a few times to get broke in........I'm not sure how plastic hulls can "break in" a piece of steel but that seems to be the case. The first couple shells we loaded looked terrible, alot worse than yours but they shot fine...

Re: Some feedback appreciated on new hunting gear.

Seems to me like those box calls and pot calls would rattle alot strapped to your leg.........They'd be moving around alot more than they would be in a vest.
Honestly if I was gonna put on something that big I would rather it be a vest with a cushion and a place to store water.

Re: couple tss questions

I can't see how it would hurt a thing. Lots of people shoot it thru tight chokes. I shot some 8's and 9's yesterday through a twenty with a pretty tight choke (660) and it actually threw a more open pattern than a .675 in my gun for whatever reason. I'm just starting to fool with loading it though ...

There goes that deer hunting mentality again. "hunt over sign". Seems to imply fellas that do it are just ambushers. Far, far from it. -quote I wasn't implying that at all.....far from it. Re: cheap Wal-Mart calls

I love the little Rocky top boxes. They're getting pretty common now. I don't use a pot call much but I always thought those first Old Yellers that came out were about as good as any of them. I know they're massed produced and there are always a few duds, but a K&H Screamin Hen 2 that is "right" is ...

Re: Finally got some shells loaded

Brent, I've shot the same load for the past two seasons. Devastating. Try 9s without the buffer and see what it does. It might make a better hunting pattern, especially from 10" ring to 20" ring. In my Super Bantam, shooting without a buffer spread the load better for me than with buffer. Gil Thank...

Finally got some shells loaded

I finally got some TSS and loaded a couple of Hal's recipes. I can't see myself ever shooting anything else through a turkey gun again. The most impressive thing I tried was a 1 5/8 oz load of 9's through my 870 compact with a .575 choke. It threw 331 in the 10" at forty yards and 211 more inside th...

I think you misinterpreted my post. I wasn't making light of the fact that the guy's uncle got killed. What I meant to say was that he's dealt with lawsuits before about people being irresponsible with firearms and wants to be sure to do everything possible to distance himself from another one. Sorr...
