Re: TSS Surprise

Very nice pattern, funny I shot a #9 TSS 1-5/8 through my old ss H&R Modified barrel last season and it was all over the place.I was hoping for a lightweight public land walking gun but no such luck.

Re: 870 20ga 21

I have a 21" "yuf" 870 with trigger spring changed, FC lengthened, and Sumtoy 570f choke FF2 336 mount. With the 1-5/8 TSS I am getting very close to 50-50 in the 10-20, 260-241,265-270,244-263, William at Sumtoy drilled and tapped for the 336 did the FC and spring change very reasonably and even te...

Re: pellet count per ounce

Thanks Hal and GLS, this eases my mind and know it wasnt a human or equipment error in my loads. I have no lack of confidence in the killing power of this stuff even if its slightly smaller shot.

Re: pellet count per ounce

Yessir, I weigh them back to back, RCBS to the digital and they are within 1 pellets difference. I bought this shot back late May or June so perhaps a smaller shot size is the reason??? In a post last summer when William posted some high numbers from testing my 870 20 some mentioned I must have over...

Re: pellet count per ounce

Checking these bullets, Barnes 130gr and Nosler 85gr, only 1 of the 85s measured 86 and 4 out of 5 Barnes 130 weighed 131.My point in doing this is, weighing out an oz. of #9 TSS on the digital and verifying with the rcbs scale, I get 424 in an oz. Being new to shot shell reloading, I want to check ...

Thanks for the link Hal, I'll pick 1 up. I guess what I was looking for is to verify my scale that I have just to figure out something .I will weigh a few rifle bullets tomorrow.
Thanks

Re: pellet count per ounce

Hey Hal, the top of the chart says approx, nominal pellet counts, so if I want to check my scale how close is this going to be for the #9 TSS if I weigh out an oz. and count em? I have and old school RCBS traditional type scale and a cheap digital I would like to check for accuracy. I'm looking for ...

Re: Can I shoot TSS in this??

Yeah I'm not much on closet queens and unless I turkey hunt with it thats where it will stay. I'll likely just try one of Hals lighter recipes and see what she does before I make any changes to it. I'll borrow Preachers folded towell for my shoulder before I go shoot it though.

Can I shoot TSS in this??

I have my Dad's old SS H&R Topper 20 gauge Modified choke. I have considered making a Turkey gun out of it since I will likely never use it otherwise. I was wondering what restriction a modified choke is and since the 2-3/4 TSS loads a 3" gun is not necessary anymore. If I could shoot the TSS safely...

Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

I am no where near experienced in such matters as yall but have you tried switching the chokes to opposite barrels just for the ha ha's? This is interesting stuff. My late friend Ben Bryant built a sweet savage 12 some years prior to his passing but I dont remember him having an issue between poi fr...

Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

You may have to keep experimenting, sometimes a different load will shoot poi so you may end up with different loads per barrel for em both to hit. Keep us posted

Re: A Few Roll Crimp Questions

I have only loaded less than 10 shells also. I practiced first on some fired shells I trimmed the star crimp off even, filled with salt to within 1/4" put the card in and rolled em. the advice I got from others was to pull the crimper down to just touching the shell edge for a couple seconds to slig...

I'm a newbie reloader myself and if I may hijack a bit, when you eliminate the buffer how do you allow for the gained space? Do you make it up with the felt disks or something?

Question re TSS

Over at the other place, there was a comment made on the "reloading section leaving" thread re questionable radiation levels in the TSS. Is this something I should be concerned with or not. I'm just started reloading shot shells and TSS and never heard anything about this before. I'm a lymphoma surv...

I just found my way over today myself thanks to an e-mail. I'm a newbie shot shell reloader but with a good bit of help from you guys, I'm throwing numbers I would have never believed possible.
