Re: type of deer hunter you are?

All the above. I put half dozen in the freezer most years - we eat a lot of venison. I don't shoot yearling bucks. I try not to shoot 2&1/2 y.o.s. I usually kill several does with crossbow and ML, and then hunt for a big one with a rifle. Consequently, some years I don't kill a buck, and that's o.k...

Re: new 20

Sounds sweet! I believe the bore of a Franchi 20 ga is .633. And a Benelli M2 is .625 (Crio?) I believe. So you're probably not going to want a .555 choke on it. Probably going to need to go wider than .555 even with the Indian Creek. Maybe somebody who has a Franchi can pipe in. Agreed. I would st...

Re: Barrel length

They all throw good patterns, usually the 835 even out patterns the Brownings. When wing shooting we both use a 26" barreled Maxus. Seems for turkey onl...

Re: Hand your deer to age it or not.

I hang mine in a cool room (refrigerated to 37 degrees) for 10 days, head down, hide on. I remove the inner loin when I field dress the animal to prevent them from drying out and eat them after spending a few days in the fridge. I think the hanging process tenderizes the meat by stretching the musc...

My thoughts exactly, went bead to rifle sights, then the fastfire, then to scope, then back to bead. In my short turkey career seems like simpler is always way to go.
