Re: Hand your deer to age it or not.

I hang mine in a cool room (refrigerated to 37 degrees) for 10 days, head down, hide on. I remove the inner loin when I field dress the animal to prevent them from drying out and eat them after spending a few days in the fridge. I think the hanging process tenderizes the meat by stretching the musc...

Re: new loads

And here's a 2nd shell through Derrick's M2. Very consistent with the 1st one in the10" with 40 more pellets moved into the 20". 208 10", 287 20" http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/hawglips/patterns/20ga2751625oz585M2.jpg Thanks for posting Hal! Re: new loads

Awsome pattern!!! Glad the next county doesn't have turk season, so I don't have to shoot any tho. :toothy7: That M2 must have stuck to Derrick's hands the last time he looked at it. Nice hunting pattern. :salute: You nailed it! Looked at the m2 on the way down to red drum fishing and made the mist...

Re: new loads

Thanks for posting Hal. Shooter I got it in the mail today and had a little time. I don't know how much tweaking it needs, I could have probably moved the circle around some and got better numbers. The picture really doesn't do it justice. The load is waaaay over kill, but it was fun to count that m...

Re: new loads

Derrick, you should be getting your goody bag on Friday. I can't wait to see what your Magic choke will do, or see if I just make crappy shells. ha, no pressure. I'll give it my best shot... no pun intended. If mine doesn't do well I will get my strong backed, weak minded brother to shoot one thru ...

Re: new loads

It looks like the changes to the 2-3/4" 1-5/8 oz load were on the money. I chronied them at 1155 and the lab at 1074 and 11515 psi. Out of my 870 I typically am faster than the lab. The 3" 1-5/8 oz HWT load (20 ga) came back at 1065 fps and 11022 psi. Pleased with that. Dang it Hal, you are gonna k...

Re: new loads

Seems like that 1 5/8 oz. load is perfect medicine for a twenty in 3" or 2 3/4. I haven't seen anybody yet that has shot it that doesn't love it. x2 on that! I got two buddies that used the 1 5/8 oz'er last year. They loved carrying light twenties, and having such a lethal shell courtesy of Mr. Hal...

My thoughts exactly, went bead to rifle sights, then the fastfire, then to scope, then back to bead. In my short turkey career seems like simpler is always way to go.

Re: Question for you guys..

The factory 10 ga. 2 oz. Loads flat out rock out of my bps. #7s put 235 in a 10 at 40 that leaves aprox. 200 more outside the 10 ring Rock, if that is the Federal HW load you are talking about,.... I don't think you will ever beat that with anything. You better go find as many as you can, and stock...

Re: couple tss questions

Rockhound, I am not saying the .690 will be too tight because every gun is different, but my brother shoots an 835 which has a 10 ga bore. He uses a .720 indian creek waterfowl choke and gets great patterns with the TSS 2 oz loads. I would think with the 2.5 ounce monster you would get better result...

Sweet gun! I pick them up every time I see them in the gun shop. Gonna be nice carrying that in the turkey woods. It was between that and the SX3 for me, and I just couldn't get away from the browning/winchesters.

Re: new loads

Tommy I used a .696 browning x-full out of a 24" browning gold, with the extrema the equivalent would be a .686. Hal's "bertha" shell was not bad at all either. The auto definitely helps. I will shoot anything you send me and get pics. :angel4:

The 2.25oz load is nasty. If you haven't seen pics I have one of straight 8's and a few of straight 9's.

Gil, that load is not buffered, and it turns out that I have it loaded a bit hot. I just got the lab report in... 28 ga, 3/4 oz TSS: 1256 fps, 7068 psi 20 ga, 2-3/4", 7/8 oz TSS: 1406 fps, 13582 psi 20 ga, 2-3/4", 1-5/8 oz TSS: 1106 fps, 14737 psi (this one surprised me....) 20 ga, 3", 1-3/4 oz TSS...
