Nice bird!

If I didn't have the 20ga restriction here in Illinois, I would be doing the same.
Same problem here in Ontario. We can use 10 gauge, 12 gauge or 20 gauge and #4, 5, or 6 shot only.

No need for insurance, they aren't expensive, just have him buy you a new one.

Re: Turkey hunting with a home defense shotgun?

Hornady designed their turkey load (VersaTite wad) to be fired from Improved Cylinder or Modified chokes. I'd be curious to see how they would work and what effective range they would have.

Finish for Black Walnut

I have a black walnut pot call that I want to finish. Double boiled Linsee Oil has been suggested by a wood working friend. What do you guys use?

Hard as it would be, I'd have passed on it. If hunting him again, I'd set up further back and maybe no decoy at all.

Re: Marathon hunt for a bird I named "Sam Wheat"...long read

What a great read! A well earned bird and a fantastic story. The fact that Sam might still be out there is sort of intriguing. Part of me wants to believe that he is, so you can hunt him again.

Citori Lightning right? Nice gun.

How do you like those Firesights? I was thinking of getting sights for my SX3.

Awesome! Nice to see the hunting tradition kept alive in the youth of today. Good, honest, family stuff there.

Congrats on the bird Leah. I think the camera skills speak for themselves dad. :P

Re: Beretta Brevattato 20 gauge single-shot

Nice little gun you got there. Excellent patterns! I've toyed with the idea of Gorilla taping on fiber optic inserts to create a leaf and one of those clip on front fiber optic devices to make a post. I don't know if I have the heart to have it drilled for a mount. Not yet, anyway. Gil The first thi...

Re: Yildiz #2 .410 turkey gun

They really do look quite well built. If they came in a bit cheaper here, I'd be more inclined to buy one for fun. With tax, one from my local store would be just shy of $300. Unfortunately, I just don't have much use for a 36 bore.

Re: Yildiz #2 .410 turkey gun

Cintax, welcome aboard. I’ve seen you at the 16 gauge forum. The choke is overall approximately 2.5”. Billy will either put black tape on it or spray paint it. Here’s an earlier photo showing the forearm wood better. It is pretty wood for the money. The checkering is handcut. Here’s BrentM’s Yildiz...

Re: Yildiz #2 .410 turkey gun

Nice gun. I've be considering one of these just for fun, but in Canada they are about $240 each. That wouldn't be so bad, but I'd be buying it for fun as an upland gun since we can't use anything smaller than 20 gauge on turkey in Ontario. The wood on those Yildiz guns is like nothing I have ever se...

You don't need a side arm in Ontario. Where the turkeys are; there isn't much danger that a shotgun couldn't get you out of.

Re: All Day Hunting

In Ontario, Canada we can hunt 1/2 before sunrise until 7 pm in the spring and from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset in the fall season. We can buy two seals in the spring and one in the fall. Sunday hunting is also allowed and regulated on the municipal level. That means that the di...
