Re: Black & Gold

Really nice bird! Congrats!! According to Lovett Williams, the black phase birds are the rarest of the color phases. A real trophy!

Re: Left eye dominant and right handed

He is still pretty young but an easy way to experiment is just use an eye patch. He can be your little pirate buddy! You can switch it around so he can shoot left or right.

Re: Mossberg Super Bantam 20 gauge turkey gun?

I have one set up with red dot site. It is very lightweight and effective shooter. I set it up for my Dad who was in his 70's and the big 12's were getting too much. I shoot HW 7's and it patterns real well at 40+. I will switch to TSS when I run out of HW. For the $ I LOVE the little gun. I think G...

Re: Peck Martin Calls

Nice set of calls! Mr. Martin has been making calls a few years and won quite a few awards when he was active in the competition scene. I have picked up a few over the years as well back when I collected. 5-6 I think, including special edition. Never hunted with them. If anyone is interested in bein...

Re: Permethrin

Thought I would add this. I don't normally wash my outer hunting clothes till after season. Unless they get really bad. A little grubbiness in the knees and ace don't bother me none. BUT I do several "sets" (pants, shirts, t shirts and my jacket) before season and bag them up in plastic bag separate...

Re: Quiet slate pot call

Try putting some tape over the holes on the bottom. One at a time or all. It should tone it down a fuzz. But if you can find a slate over slate or slate over wood they will be much quieter than slate over glass most are making. Striker will tone it down also. A softer wood like cherry, walnut, sycam...

Re: MI DNR Approach to CWD .. Pandora's Box!!

There appears to be some significant break through in the ultimate cure or way we handle CWD. Also has carry overs to other brain related disfunction. By all accounts this is the single biggest development yet. Sounds really promising.

Re: Binos for turkeys

I have Vortex Diamonbacks and Nikon Prostaff and nothing bad to say about either cept the weight, good in truck or on stand (in a blind maybe?) But I don't like to carry that much around usually. Personal opinion if they wont fit in a pocket use a harness, it really makes them easy to carry and use....

Re: Blind Suggestions???

Not a big blind fan but I keep one around for kids and stuff. Both turkey and deer hunting. I will say it is handy for raining days tho. I picked up one on sale at Cabelas for $70. Herters brand I think. It has worked ok so far. Its not fancy but serves the purpose. Big enuff for 2 and even 3 if you...

Re: 12 Gauge Muzzleloading Pistol

Black powder guns are exempted from a lot of gun restrictions. Don't think that modifying it for a choke would matter much. But that can be easily checked out. You will need enuff barrel for the forcing cone to still function AND have the barrel tapped for a screw in choke. Open cyclinder is perfect...

I don't call before season any more. Just seems like a poor plan to me. But I do go out and listen, look for sign, ect. Even in areas I know will be good. As far as spooking turkeys in general tho…..just come and go with me and I can show you tons of good ways to screw up a and spook birds. In that ...

Re: go to diaphragm calls

I have had trouble finding good mouth calls for years. Seems like 1 in 10 or so would work fair. Finding one that really was spot on was rare. Couple years ago I had Del Crow make some for me and they have been fantastic. Just about every one fits and runs well. Best mouth calls I have ever found. D...

I picked up one of these strikers a couple years ago and it will run on everything. I love mine. It is an A team player. Snakewood aint cheap tho. I don't know the man just saying its a darn good striker even for that $$.
