Re: 12 Gauge Muzzleloading Pistol

Black powder guns are exempted from a lot of gun restrictions. Don't think that modifying it for a choke would matter much. But that can be easily checked out. You will need enuff barrel for the forcing cone to still function AND have the barrel tapped for a screw in choke. Open cyclinder is perfect...

Re: Spooking turkeys

I don't call before season any more. Just seems like a poor plan to me. But I do go out and listen, look for sign, ect. Even in areas I know will be good. As far as spooking turkeys in general tho…..just come and go with me and I can show you tons of good ways to screw up a and spook birds. In that ...

Re: go to diaphragm calls

I have had trouble finding good mouth calls for years. Seems like 1 in 10 or so would work fair. Finding one that really was spot on was rare. Couple years ago I had Del Crow make some for me and they have been fantastic. Just about every one fits and runs well. Best mouth calls I have ever found. D...

Re: Altering POI (not with adjustable sight)

I have never tried it but would filing the barrel be a solution? I have read of some doing it to move POI on double barrels. Not sure how much you have to do it or if it would pull it that much??? Mite another option for you. Probably still need a good smith.

Re: Florida Public Land Tactics and Advice on General Approach?

Quota permits on FL public land is the best option. Its to late to apply now but get on their website and look for 2nd / 3rd chance quota permits. It will be a slim chance for spring 2019 but.... Apply next year for sure. Study the harvest data (its all at FWC online) for the best WMA's in your area...

I mount my reflex sites toward the back out of habit. I can tell you FOR SURE that old eyes like it farther away! LOL Maybe think along the lines of putting it where you can adjust brightness and on off easily without a lot of excess movement.

Hoobilly, she did the same with all her critters. She kept her chickens out back, named them and babied them like you wouldn't believe. But when it was time for fried chicken.....off with their heads in a blink. Just as an aside, she also raised rabbits for eating. She had a system. Bucks had a cage...

Even though he's got 3500 acres it sounds like he's the type who hasn't seen any of it that's not close to a road in years. Plus he is pretty close to your feeder (you got some nice bucks on trail cam) which he has to be aware of and is likely a big factor here. Your maintained road, your maintained...

Getting ready to dive into a brisket "samich" as I read. Man, I haven't eaten possum in YEARS. That and groundhog were 2 of my grannies specialties. I was just a little fellow but I remember her putting the possums in a cage and feeding them for a while. She said "to sweeten him up". LOL

smoked brisket

Bought a smoker a while back and have been doing a few things, ribs, pork butt, ect. Tried my first brisket this weekend and it turned out great! Tender and very juicy but not falling apart. It was a very simple rub recipe for beginners. If you don't like hot and spicy you might want to reduce the c...

I have been reading my copy and while not finished yet...it is all the ups and downs and no BS tales of a traveling turkey hunter. And a refreshing break from the almost non stop commercialism that seems to follow a lot of the "pros" around. Well done Doc!
