Re: 870 Jr. Mods
I believe the houge stocks are just one size and it’s to fit the stock from a 12 gauge to a 20. Could be wrong though Yes, if I were guessing, I'd say same stock as 12, cut back and spacer/adapter added to fit the 20. The photo of the 12 doesn't appear to show a spacer. I just like the color and te...

Re: Most productive box call
I hardly ever carry a box call other than a Richard Shively “Super Yelper” scratch box. A few years ago I carried a Woodhaven real hen cherry that Jim Pollard tuned for me when he worked at The Tackle Box in Ft Smith Ar. I still keep it in the truck in turkey season but haven’t had it out in a coup...

Re: My Weatherby Element Turkey
Welp I picked up another turkey gun..After handling a few of these guns that buddies have bought i knew i had to get one for myself when i held one that had been cut down. Re: Thin wall chokes
I have an Ithaca SKB double that has them. I ordered two “extra full” Truchokes from Carlson. It’s “okay” with 1.625oz of tss 9s. And I have killed a pile of squirrels with it shooting 1oz of lead. I may carry it on a hunt this year.

Re: Compact guns
Mine started out as an 870 special field grouse gun. Early model with a 21” barrel and fixed choke. Guy I bought it from had it threaded for Truchokes (all that was really available at the time). I shot a couple of turkeys with it as it was, but the English stock isn’t comfortable shooting 3” turkey...

Re: Compact guns
My 870 with a 21” barrel and compact stock has become about my favorite turkey gun. A .555 Indian creek and 1.625oz tss is hard to beat.

Re: Turkey vest!?
I bounce back and forth through the season between a Nomad MG and a OldTom Gunslinger. On my Nomad I replaced the padded shoulder straps with claw tripe straps. Both have adequate pockets for what I carry. The Nomad has a pocket for a thermacell which every vest ought to. On the Gunslinger I clip th...

Re: Advice on setting up a muzzle loading shotgun
Over the years there have been several authors that posted info on their muzzle loaders. Can't recall names but one fellow made some beautiful guns and he gave some loading info using tss if I recall correctly. There is a guy on another forum who seems to have done quite a bit with tss and muzzle l...
